Looks like Chaney is gone

Chaney might would stay as OC (not play caller)/QB coach if JH wants him. He loves Knoxville.

He's definitely worth keep if he's willing to coach QBs
Good for Chaney to go--glad change gets him out of here AGAIN----the kindest thing I can say is that his supporters either cannot see or do not know anything about football

Scary, another control freak?
He would not be the first HC to call the plays when he is planning on running his system. The Pirate that so many wanted to coach here calls the plays during the game. Scott Frost calls his own plays. Not uncommon. The OC will be in charge of getting the system in place and running the offensive side of preparation.

So when he was putting up points the first time he was here, and couldn’t with Pruitt, do you not think that Pruitt had a little to do with that.

Best thing Chaney can coach is to keep the line moving quickly around the best buffet in the city of Knoxville.

Is it, or is it not factual that it’s harder for a HC to call plays and be an HC over just being an HC? When I say harder I mean more difficult for the individual.

I love how you are just going to try and ignore the statistical reality that the man has been doing this for a while and has been from an offensive standpoint wildly successful. Your trying to win a disagreement by making your argument smaller and smaller each time. Your argument started with him being a control freak, then went to "he's supposed to teach his assistants" and now has gone to its hard to do two things well at one time. Maybe for you it is, I dunno.

Let me think about who I'm gonna trust in this scenario. Random internet slappy that pretends to know how major college football works (you)....OR....the guy that has lived and breathed college football since he was 18, runner up for a Heisman Trophy and now has multiple stops along his coaching path where the offenses have been prolific, including the last 3 years of being the HC and the playcaller (Heupel).

I'm rolling with Heupel. Just Stop!

Have to make a mental note from this point forward to just disregard clown posters with a poor like to post ratio.

That doesn't invalidate his point. You might be better off just acknowledging that choosing to call plays on O doesn't make Heupel a control freak.

HAHAHAHAHA....the last refuge for the soundly beaten...personal attacks. Your statement is the grown up version of "I know you are but what am I?"! HAHAHAHAHA!

Well, all I can say is I know the truth hurts and you're right I haven't really posted at all before. I do however think it's time for the entire fan base to realize, when you say stupid s**t....stupid s**t happens! Be well.

I don't understand why the universities don't word the buyouts so that if we're paying them, they don't have to serve a reasonable role for us until they get another job that we approve of. All these guys could be analyst, watching film and such like Butch did for Saban. If they screw up that job we could fire for cause (insubordination.)
We're going to pay Chaney more than a million bucks and Steele nearly a million when they could provide some level of contribution until they find something they feel more appropriate.
If not is there any way we could subcontract them to the highest bidder?

Subcontract them out? What dumb fool would sign THAT contract when no other coach anywhere else has that kind of stipulation. Quit worrying about the money the university burned. Everyone was happy when they signed the contracts. Every school does the same kind of stupidly one sided contracts.

And why the heck do you want to keep old staff around anyway. Chaney is part of the old regime that resulted in the worst football season we ever had. Excuses don't cut it on that. Get rid of him. Fulmer brought in Steele before he was summarily shown the door in the hopes that he would skate thru this ordeal and come out on the other side with another coaching staff he could meddle with and manipulate. Fulmer was a bungling cancer on the program. Glad he's gone. We're not going to miss Kevin Steele either. A new coach is in town and needs to put his own staff together. If he kept any of these Pruitt era rejects he'd automatically be suspect.

Does not concern me at all for Heupel to be calling plays during the game.
Honestly, I think this is what Pruitt was doing the first year he was here with the defense and we had a better defense that year.

What will concern me about the situation though is, like Pruitt, if he becomes a micromanager of the unit and it becomes stifling, regresses, and effects the entire team.
