wish we could swoop him up. he won't be at butler long. he obviously out coaches most people. only 34. at ut he would kick but in a classy way and get better support than that small school as far as resources.

Why they wouldnt pay to keep a coach that may well be the best Mid major program in the NCAA is a crazy thought

Didn't he sign a huge contract extension after their tourney run last year? I don't think he's going anywhere soon.

...... that dude shouldn't of fouled butlers guy. He even admitted that he wasn't thinking. Don't compare that to UT having a coaching mistake having 13 on the field

Whatever. Refs usuall swallow the whistle that late in the game. The outcome for Pitt fans is comparable. They thought they were going to win and the rug was yanked... just like us. JMO!!!

Not the same. It was a foul. At least it was a mistake being aggresive and not a passive one, but the blame still falls on Pitt and not the ref.

Oh, oh ZJC has a question!!!

How come they knew they were going to win the game when after the missed FT the game was tied???

Sorry to upset everyone. Butler's coach is waiting on a Big Time Job. For example, Kentucky, North Carolina, or the Mighty Jayhawks. I don't think he would want to come to Tennessee. I wish we could get him though. It would be a perfect fit.

That makes me glad that we don't have Depaul's AD.

I think OP's a fairly solid coach and good recruiter. He should do well there if he can convince Chicago kids to stay home. However, he's done nothing remotely close to warranting $2.3mil.

He certainly was the coach at Clemson. Got Clemson in the NIT for three yers, then followed it up with three "solid" NCAA appearances. Wonder how he did this year at Depaul to earn his keep?

I am simply relating to the fans feelings. Are you a Vol fan? Good grief!!

Oh, OH!!! ZJC has another question!!!

How does a game Butler and Pitt played question my fandom of Tennessee?

He might not even want to leave Butler. He seems like the loyal type, he's getting good pay, and he's going to become a god on campus as long as he stays there long enough. I hope he stays.

he's not making that much at Butler. I understand he's been on a "super run" as far as the NCCAT is concerned the past couple seasons. However, I do believe that he would see Tennessee as a step up, and also with the ability to recreate the program from basically scratch.

3.5-4 million and he's here. Just because some don't think he may be worth it, doesn't mean we can't afford it. Hell, I'll chip in a thousand a year.

I want to finally get a hot and upcoming coach. Throw enough money out there and you can potentially get anyone.

Am I wrong or did he use to be a lawyer also? Would be interesting to have two ex lawyers coaching our 2 major programs.

He worked at eli Lilly. He wouldn't want to take over a program like this. He would only go to a top 15 basketball only school.

Someone finally gets it. The best coach available for this program is Bruce pearl. End of story.
Posted via VolNation Mobile

Exactly. Keep Bruce and damn the consequences. They won't be that bad. Just a one year suspension for Bruce (at the absolute minimum), a post-season ban for the program, and severe recruiting restrictions including a loss of several scholarships. That sounds like a recipe for success to me.

I say throw 3.5 million at Brad and call it a day. If he don't come for that much money and control, then let him rot in Indiana.

If he gets to another Final Four (which is possible), then throw $4M at him.

Anyone who questions the legitimacy of Brad Stevens as a coach deserves to be ignored, IMO. Just imagine how good Butler would be if Gordon Hayward had stayed this year.

If we fire Pearl (Hamilton should go right behind him, if not in front of him) then Brad Stevens would be at the top of my list. Byrd at Belmont would be right behind. Mooney at Richmond would also be there. I do not want Rick Pitino or Larry "Jump Ship" Brown here. And we will not get anyone from a major basketball school to come here. That's just totally unrealistic IMO.

There is only one name we should be going after, Brad Stevens. He has a national name now after what he's done at Butler, which is KEY in recruiting. He's young and did you see the clip of him in the locker room after Butler beat Pitt. Those kids love him. We have the money and it would be worth every dime to keep UT basketball on the map.
