Lookout Mt. or Pigeon Forge?

I was very underwhelmed with the Apple Barn.

The Old Mill is fantastic however, both the restaurant and the store called the country kitchen or whatever on the end.Posted via VolNation Mobile
Agree with both. I thought Apple Barn was average, at best.

The best restaurant in the Pigeon Forge/Sevierville area is Farmer's Table.

Chattanooga is a great place to visit. The downtown area is great. My wife and I always stay at the Marriott across from the aquarium and eating at Hennens is a must. Rhythm and Brews is also a nice venue to watch bands. It has been almost two years since our last visit, but there are two new resturants that I came across on the web, however, I forgot their name. One was another brewing though that looked to be redone in an old building.

Odd, I think Gatlinburg is a shathold and like Pigeon Forge. The hotels in Pigeon Forge are much nicer and there's more to do.

The Old Mill and The Apple Barn are faves with my family.

We're gonna do the Old Mill after the Vols game...assuming it's a day game. I'll keep Apple Barn and Farmer's Table in mind though for Dollywood day.

I absolutely HATE going to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg anymore especially if you're walking around in front of the shops. The shop owners aren't "local" anymore, and they will freakin harrass you to come in their store. If you actually do go in one, they follow you around the whole time askin if "you like? you like? I give you discount".

If we want to get away and get a cabin, we usually go to the North Georgia Mountains (like Ellijay).

We're looking at an indoor waterpark resort/hotel/lodge...at least for a couple of nights.

Interesting, that's never happened to me or my family.

I've always seen Pigeon Forge synonymous with Gatlinburg since they're only a few minutes apart.

Gatlinburg is not everyone's cup of tea. I like it as a 2-3 day trip because it is a short drive from Middle Tennessee. It really doesn't serve well to stay too long and my wife and I like the outdoors aspect of it. I really don't care so much about the shops or attractions as I do going to Laurel Falls, Clingman's dome, Cades Cove or just sitting on the deck of the chalet looking at the mountains.

Your girls may enjoy Pigeon Forge, but Cades Cove/national park drive/bike ride are great, especially on a Friday, a school day.

I'd go to Gatlinburg. Traffic does back up in Pigeon Forge normally.

Chatt has a lot of cool kid friendly stuff. Creative Discovery Museum, Ruby Falls, Rock City, the Aquarium...both are very neat places. Pigeon Forge is more commercialized while Chattanooga has a more small city feel.
