My dinosaur of a desktop is just about on its last leg. I have been searching the last couple of weeks to try and find some good deals on what I want. Anyone have a good site for some good deals? Dont need it to do a whole bunch but just normal home computer tasks. Would prefer Intel processor and over 3.00ghz and at least 4 GB RAM. Anyone have a good place for deals?

If you don't want to build one yourself, pretty much anything you can find at WalMart/Sam's, Best Buy or wherever that fits your criteria will suffice.

Yeah, not really looking to build one myself, not really enough time between work, xbox, and porn. I have been to the usual places, just wondering if someone had a "special" place that I have been overlooking.

State of the art. There's a sweet car builder game.

this is my specialty.

So... go here... Barebone, Barebones, Barebone Computer System Kit, Barebone Kits, PC Barebones, Asus Barebone Kits, Barebone PC, Shuttle Barebone Kits. Mini Barebone PC at TigerDirect.com

That's the "barebones" section... they are basically close to complete desktops... just missing 1 or 2 things.. usually it doesn't include the graphics card or sometimes RAM - just depends on the kit. It's so easy to buy those seperate and install them yourself. It's not exactly "building your own" computer - but its worth the potential hassle. Only problem I foresee is putting the OS on the machine - you would have to buy one - or you could illegal obtain one like the cool kids do.

Or if you don't even want to bother - stay on tigerdirect.com and just go to the computer sections and it has pre, fully built ones still that may include the OS as well... just don't buy from any walmart or big company sites or you're not getting your money worth.

Whatever you do, make your own mind up about the above the above.

You might also try QVC or HSN. There computer deals are usually super loaded with software.

Newegg

Tigerdirect

But seriously - that's the only two websites I'd ever shop for computers, computer accessories, computer parts, and even things like video cameras and TVs. I prefer tiger over newegg due to a better site layout.. and both of those always atleast have 2-3 really good deals on each category per week.

I completely agree with this. I'm not a computer guy by any means but both these sites are informative and trustworthy.
I recently switched to a macbook pro and its lightyears better than my Dell. If you want a free Dell laptop you can have my old one. It's at the bottom of the Tennessee river below the Henley St. bridge.

I hate tigerdirect and always will (just personal from when I used to build comps).

Just one warning is to take the reviews with a grain of salt. Most of the people submitting them are morons

Why? They are very helpful if you have returns or defective products. I can't really tel l the difference between them and newegg. I just like tigers site better and its easier to find deals and navigate.

Thanks for all the input from everyone, I found a deal on Dell's website(of all places). Got a Inspirion 580 with a Int I3 with 20" HD monitor for under 600. They are running a special until Feb 14th, I am happy :)

they may be now but a few years ago they were horrible. Of course that was when Newegg could be counted on too. Haven't ordered from either in a while but TD would never get my business. Like I said, just a personal opinion
