Looks to me like CLK and staff are going to have to prove their coaching ability with the current roster (like BP had to do his first year), before most highly rated recruits are going to bye into what's he's selling. My thoughts, based on some recent recruits choosing schools like Rutgers etc. over us. Your thoughts?

Other schools may be reminding recruits that unless Kiffin or Reaves walk in to their home to sell them the product Ut is selling, the recruiter may not be there next year. So whatever he told or promised you, how true could it be? How could CLK uphold a promise made by a coach no longer there?
Kiffin is behind the 8 ball this year, but hopefully making inroads for future classes. And a late push this year by whatever dream staff Kiffin puts together would be a plus.

Just a hunch, but i don't think drayton or adkins are going anywhere soon. Can't say i agree with it, but its seeming more and more likely everyday. Were starting to get late in the recruiting process and both of these guys are heavily involved with recruits. We cann them now, most likely whoever they were recruiting are gone also. Hate to say it, but if they were going to let them go i think they'd already be gone.

Some men rise to the challenge put before them. Coach Kiff is raising the bar with the hires he is making. A good thing about Coach Fulmer was that he was loyal to his staff. The bad thing about Coach Fulmer was that he was loyal to his staff. People, by nature, get comfortable and even apathetic when the fire dies down. Coach Kiff is stiring up the coals and fanning the flame. I hope Adkins and Drayton rise to the occasion and to the new challenge. If not, I'm sure Coach Kiff with not hesitate to send them on their way.

He apparently likes some things about both of them. I just hope adkins isn't coaching the o-line next year. Drayton really didn't impress as a runningbacks coach either.

Kiffin might very well have to win and prove himself next year with the talent we already have and our current commits. If so, I think we will be fine. We have lots of talent already that was never developed. I think we will even be okay with the QB's we have for next year. A little deveopment and the proper coaching goes a long ways. Kiffin might not turn this class into a top 10 class and we might be lucky to finish in the top 25. This doesn't mean he is not a good recruiter. This means he has had less than 3 weeks to try and sway guys that other coaches have been in contact with for a year.

Nowhere in my original post did I say or imply Kiffin was not a good recruiter. I simply said he and the staff may have to prove their coaching ability on the field before most highly rated recruits buy into his system. This is the SEC not the PAC TEN. Any reasonable fan knows this is a possibility and i'm glad to see i'm not the only person here that doesn't see the world through orange colored glasses, Thanks tennisguy, i agree with you 100% ! FWIT, I am as big a Kiffin supporter as anyone, in fact i predicted to all my co-workers October 1st ( over a month before anyone knew for sure Fulmer wouldn't be back) that Kiffin would be our coach next year should Fulmer resign or be let go, and i'm still confident he's the right guy for our program. GO VOLS !

ooooooo you're gonna get in trouble for quoting spam oooooooo. But seriously, how do they post in chinese? And I wonder what it says? I mean, what if the guy was really saying like... I really like the Lane Kiffin hire, but I'm just not sold on Drayton or Atkins staying... lol crazy asians and their crazy languages. Or it could just say: Mongolian beef.

More than anything else, CLK will need to develop players. That is what made Coach Cut so good, we haven't had anyone in the past 10 years that truly developed the talent we have or made the talent we had play above their talents.

Kids are not going to come to UT simply because we got a new coach. Yes, he will have to prove himself, but the reason we aren't getting every recruit in the country, is we have no staff and Kiff has had 3 weeks to recruit. The Satan's and Urban's have had 2 years to talk to these guys. They have a comfort level with their position coaches and so on. I think a few more highly rated recruits will choose TN before NSD after Coach O and Monte start making calls.

I'm already sold on CLK's ability to recruit. I believe that at the rate he's going, There's a good chance that this will be a top 10 class. I'm just waiting to see how well he and his staff do at player developement. Over the last 10 yrs, TN has turned into a place where highly touted recruits come to see their dreams die.
