Bowden shouldn't be on the list.

With all of the talent he gets...

History terms, he is in the Top 5...
Currently he is not in the Top 10.

Anyways, ok, I now agree that Tedford shouldn't be considered a Top 10 coach, yet.

Although I am sure if you gave a program like Cal to some of those coaches, a few of them wouldn't be mentioned for even consideration.

and with all that said(the talent level in tallahassee isn't what it used to be, it's not awful, granted), he won the ACC just two years ago. seems he did more with less, wouldn't you say?

True, although I wouldn't consider it a huge gain considering the fact that they won the ACC with only a 8-5 record

they don't ask how, just how many, and i think that makes 12 or 13 ACC titles for BB.

there were only two at large spots under the old system which were taken automatically by utah and texas (because they were ranked in the top 4). now there are 4 spots. Two would still have been used by utah and texas but the other two would have been open. The rose bowl specifically said they would have picked cal if available to maintain the pac-10/big-10 relationship (and for ticket sales and regional issues).

I hadn't heard that. I guess it makes sense though. How do you feel that Michigan-Cal matchup would have panned out?

Michigan played Texas to the wire. The Longhorns were much better that year than the Red Raiders have ever been. I was pretty happy with the way things worked out. I thought the best matchups were produced. I undestand why a Cal fan would say he/she felt screwed, but I would think a Texas fan would have just as much a right (if not moreso) to feel the same if the situation were reversed.

sure in retrospect it looks that way, but at the time it was unquestionably the royal screw. we were top-5 in the country in offense and defense (the only team in the country to do so) and our only loss was by 5 points to the eventual national champion. Texas got dominated in its only loss. I contend cal would have beaten michigan, but I realize how that can seem ridiculous for those who didn't follow the team and only see teh TT score. Though we had a lot of injuries by the bowl game (our top dlineman out and all 3 of our top wrs, so we might have lost because of that). I contend that michigan team wasn't very good. It's all bs talk now anyway.
