I feel like we are finally headed back in the right direction. It was nice feeling a bit of confidence this year during most of the teams on our schedule. I can remember the 90's, and how I felt like we would show up and compete at a high level every week. And we did! (except for Florida being a thorn in our side). Then we started to fade a bit under Fulmer..... Sitting on the edge of my seat more weeks than not. Kiffen never really got us going - because USC was his "dream job" Dooley was THE WORST in my opinion! He never won a single game that he was not leading at half-time (NOT ONE!!!!) Butch meant well. I actually liked some of the things that he started: Checker-board Neyland; Brick-by-Brick; the Smokey Greys... But he was NOT a great game-day coach -- and if it weren't for Josh Dobbs we would have lost a whole lot of more games under him. Brady Hoke? -- See Ya! Pruitt had us on a 7-game winning streak at one time. But that tent collapsed fairly quickly when everybody found out that he had no people skills (And thus, no way to relate to the players and his staff without just yelling at them). Finally -- (FINALLY!) I feel like we have a positive, forward-minded, winning coach in Heuple. It was nice to sit on the couch this year and feel some confidence again! I didn't have to sit on the edge of my seat watching us squeak out a win against Missourri, South Carolina, and Go-forbid Vanderbilt. We were competitive in every game this year and a few close plays (or bad calls) away from a TEN WIN SEASON! (I know, Nega-Vols, "We didn't get there" this year). But, it's nice watching Tennessee games again, and not getting "ticked-off" because they were unprepared; Or embarrassed by the product on the field. Or Players getting in trouble off the field. KUDO's to Heuple for turning THAT around! I enjoyed the entire year (been a while since I've said that...) and you have my full support!
