Here are the guys from 84 who were drafted. I think there are at least 4 superbowl rings in that crowd:

Team players drafted into in the NFL
Player Position Round Pick NFL Club
Alvin Toles Linebacker 1 24 New Orleans Saints
Carl Zander Linebacker 2 43 Cincinnati Bengals
Johnnie Jones Running Back 5 137 Seattle Seahawks
Fuad Reveiz Kicker 7 195 Miami Dolphins
Reggie McKenzie Linebacker 10 275 Los Angeles Raiders
Raleigh McKenzie Guard 11 290 Washington Redskins
Tony Simmons Defensive End 12 318 San Diego Chargers

Are you an alum? When did you graduate?

I am a Tennessee Tech grad from '84. Had a bunch of high school buddies going to UT so we spent many a weekend up there. Knoxville had just a little more going on than Cookvegas.

What about you?

I was at that game...the memory I have is of Tony Robinson throwing the ball out of bounds to kill the clock as time expired...We were somewhere around Kentucky's 10 yds line and should've had one more play...:salute:

I was there too. I was 11 and it was my first time to Neyland stadium. I will never forget how that game ended.

Yeah, I am kinda vaugely trying to remember that. For some reason, I get that game and the 6-6 tie with Georgia Tech mixed up. Was it kinda cold the day of the Kentucky game? The score was like 17-12 or something?

I was there and yes it was chilly .

UTK grad in '85. Lots of friends from Cookville, oldest daughter (UTK '09) got married there June 2010 so I'm familiar with the place. I've been out of Tennessee for the most part since then but there is a chance we were in the same crowd a time or two.

Yeah, bet that is true. Hard to believe that has been 27 years ago. Time does fly by

I am just guessing here but didn't Van Halen have an album entitled 1984?

And sounding really stupid, George Orwell magic year was 1984....maybe...?

Must of been that, they had an album with a bunch of roman numerals on it that came out about the same time and I never bothered to cipher it out.

Summer of 1984, Van Halen had the songs Panama and Jump from an album called 1984 I think....and the roman numbers part sounds right. They were all over MTV.

If he liked them in concert, he must of caught them on a night when Eddie wasn't smashed out of his skull.

Heck, I am so old, I can remember Van Halen coming to Nashville as the opening act for Black Sabbeth

Was VH 1984 tour. They traveled alone and did a great show in Nashville.

That is interesting. Not sure how I missed that one. Was it at Starwood or Municipal Auditorium?

Should have added that they were the opening act for Black Sabbeth in either 1978 or 1979

Now I see. I didn't get to Nashville much, especially after '82 when my dad retired and moved to Sewanee. I did security for most of the concerts on campus but VH never played there. Would have been a nice way to make $10 bucks!

Rex Hargrove ...

I was thinking of Charles McRae from Clinton TN. I'm disappointed that you didn't figure that one out...LOL!!! Ok, for some reason I always thought that Clinton was near Union City. Now that I look at a map, I see that they are only about 500 miles apart. Nevermind...

I am having a bad day. Logging off now

LOL!!!
