Most are 3 stars with one 4 star. If he can coach these guys we got up, plus the ones coming in who knows we may have a diamond in the rough of a coach. Time will tell. Last 10 years been like riding a bicycle with no chain. As John Ward Said. IT'S TIME !!!!!!

About over people talking about stars and what not... I've watched enough years of UT nabbing top 10 or 15 classes and it producing hot trash on the field because of hot trash coaching... I just want to see player development, even if it's a team full of walk ons, I don't care...

It's the American Athletic Conference. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Here's the number of blue chip four and five star recruits in their entire conference while CJH was at UCF per the 247 composite.
  • 2018: 0
  • 2019: 0
  • 2020: 3 (all Cincinnati following a Top 10 finish)

and for the "he only won w/Frost's recruits" crowd, here's Frosts monster recruiting class rankings (which would've been Freshman & Sophomores anyway)
  • 2016: 65th
  • 2017: 55th

Yes Sir!
I had much rather have a decent recruiter who can develop talent than a high powered recruiter who sucks at developing talent.

Who are his top players that he has ever coached? Like who have been drafted.
Sam Bradford is probably the best player he coached. Lock & Landry are at least in the league still. Hill & Davis are the most recent draft picks. Hill is a projected starter for the cowboys. Davis put on a show for the bills this year.

I would venture to say that this is the most raw talent at skilled positions he has had in the last 5 years.....

He's a very good recruiter. 3 of their best classes out of the last decade were under him (and he was only responsible for 4 classes).

This is true even though he has used P5 transfers bigly and they don't count toward recruiting rankings. He is solid in that area.

Right now, I don’t really care about the names or ra king of the players he coached on offense. I look at the offensive numbers he put up and marvel at his accomplishments with the talent he had. I know that Tennessee will recruit very well and it is likely to begin with the 2022 class. We still have some outstanding athletes returning and we will sign some very good players Wednesday. We may not have the depth we want at every position, but we have not had the depth we needed at every position for the last 15 years. We will a lot of games with the offense we put on the field starting this Fall.

It’s safe to say that UCF, despite its inferior talent compared to ours, would have destroyed Tennessee in any of Pruitt’s years.

This is pure speculation! Gus had some decent offenses and a Pruitt lead D gave him a loss at Auburn. I am not saying JH can't coach an O. But, you can't say nonsense that a bunch of 3 star players outside the P5 would DESTROY a decent SEC team in 2018 and 2019.

I have said for months now that recruiting sites have ruined college football in some ways. I don't care what they're rated. Every player that steps on campus is a blank canvas that at some point it comes down to how they develop the natural talent they have, and how hard they work. Sure, some players have more natural talent than others. But if you don't develop it, you just become another bust that could have been something special.

Rick Barnes is a classic example. Started here with some lower talent and developed them and instilled a culture, and now he is rolling in 5* players and making them fit his system. If JH can develop what we have, then the "natural talent" level will rise because more players will want to raise their ceiling and be the best player they can be.

Heupel needs to be a developer more than anything. You're right, recruiting had been great under Pruitt and Jones. And it got us on our 5th coach now in 13 years. So.....there are clearly more important things.

Dawkins against Barnes would be a real interesting coaching match up and I would have liked to see how Williams and Schofield and Alexander would have handled Tacko Fall.

Something ain't right when Coastal Carolina would roll up in Neyland stadium and beat The University of Tennessee Volunteers like a red headed step child! Thank God we didn't pay them to play us this year.
