Welcome to the SEC Derek, shortly you will meet, Oregon, UF, LSU, and BAMA. Best of luck

Yea and Kiffen and Co. wasn't going to be mediocre for a few yrs til they got all the talent they needed? Pretty sure the last time I checked Kiffen didn't have the greatest overall record, but yea you're right 7-5 w/ a blowout loss in a bowl is Fantastic yr!

Since I cant start a thread, and this is my 1st post here I'll just post my comments in here. First off I would like to congradulate you guys on this hire, you could not have picked a better coach to go after. As much as I am dissapointed and the fans of La Tech in loseing Dooley, I know he made the right decision in being a Vol. He is a first class individual, he doesnt mess around at all, he has a one strike policy, I know stuff has happened at Tennessee this past season, but if that would of happened at La Tech or if it would happen again at Tenn, you could kiss those players goodbye, he doesnt play around with off the feild problems and I think alot of that comes from he also being a athletic director also.

His family is extremely important to him, not a sunday goes by after home games in which he isnt sitting in church sunday morning, rather it being the late mass cause of road games on a sunday night and he getting back late sunday he will still make it there. He is a very special coach, if you would glance at him on the feild and off of it, you wont think hes the same guy, hes very laid back and doesnt mess with the media like alot of certain coaches do, but on the feild he is as intence as you can get, he isnt afraid to get into a players face and tell him what he thinks. Hes a coach that will get the best out of every athlete he has on your roster.

La Tech is by far a way better place then what it was when he arrived 3 years ago, no one knew what to expect from a coach who had no head coaching experience and was just a highly considered assistant and a recruiting cordinator. He turned the town of Ruston around, he got out in the community and also showed his face around so people would know who he was and what he was like, he will make Tennessee a better place. High School coaches around the state of Louisiana loved him, he got in good with those and basically hit it off from the beginning, he has a great snese of humor and loves to joke around but he can be dead serious when it comes to football. I would expect him to take Coach Terry Jospeh with him to Tenn, Coach TJ(which alot of people know him by), is also a great recruiter, he is hands down tell you like it is and gets fired up when it comes to sitting in a living room telling the parents that he wants your kid.

All in all, best of luck this season, I will being pulling for you guys along the way, I was a La Tech fan for many years before he came here and I am a bigger one now since he left, but I am a HUGE Dooley fan and I will become a Tenn fan from now on.

I stopped reading after that. Not only did you misspell you're... but you show up on another teams board and insult a life long fan. That fan being me. Unlike you, I only cheer for one school. Take your bandwagon behind and GTFO.

LOL.... your funny Orange Pearl.....

Why can't I root for three schools. I have degrees from each school unlike yer self. Your the type of person why people hate on UT so often. You participate on this forum bad-mouthing a recent new Vol grad who btw most likily spent more time at UTk (not at UTC or UT-Martin) for school then you.

And this is a forum to discuss VolNation athletics not grading a thesis or English report. Sorry for the misspelling. Sue me.. I can!!! Can you?

Dude you're right. I knew Mushchamp suggested him to Hamilton and I was pretty sure they had worked together in the past but I just researched it and they did. For 5 yrs both under Saban. I wasn't sure about Kirby Smart either and you're right about that one too 2 diff times once at LSU and once at the Dolphins. Just look at these guys now. I can't wait til the media hunts down Saban and asks him his opinion on the hire of CDD. I'm telling you the more I research this guy the more impressed I get.

Matter of fact...... Dooley is the person who told Saban about both Muschamp and Smart while at LSU. Saban had no clue about those two players until Dooley.

Thats why Muschamp gave AD Hamilton the heads up on Dooley when he rejected the UT job vacancy

LSU alum and current BR resident here. Dooley is a great hire. Tennessee is definitely not a stepping stone for this guy, and the only way he leaves is if he becomes great by winning a natty champ, which I'm sure yall wouldn't mind another one of those. Dooley is a man of class, although he cusses more than any coach you have ever had before, book it. Great hire, and good luck.
Dude he can cuss all he wants, as long as he wins.

I hear ya VolTech... You can pull for as many schools as you like as long as the Vols are in there somewhere...:)

He!!, I even pull for Bama when they aren't playing my Vols (SEC man) and I've always liked Texas (my favorite RB came from there).

If you stay around long enough you'll figure out who to ignore and who to listen to.

Thanks for the info on Dooley and glad to have you on board.

Screw Muschamp. He's going to rot in Texas behind Mack Brown.

Noone with any recruiting ability will "rot" at Texas. The 3 top recruiting hotbeds are Tx, Fl. & Ca. He won't be here, but he won't rot, either. Mack Brown won't hang around forever. Best wishes to CDD!

I'm glad we've made the rest of the SEC happy with this hiring decision.

I think they are happy that we don't have a douche bag representing our conference any more. He was an embarrassment to the whole conference! His boneheaded comments make us the laughing stock of the SEC. I'd rater see us in the headlines for our accomplishments on the field! Not for the boneheaded things we say!

...and with his accent I will understand every effin word. Oh yeah those few VOL fans up here in southern indiana use words like britches, you all, youngsters, etc.

I wanted Kippy, but I will support CDD 100%, cause that there youngster is our coach. Anybody who can work General Neyland Coach Majors Coach Fulmer and respect into his first press conference...got to be alright.

GO VOLS

Nice post. I want your opinions on Tommy Spangler, from what I've seen it is all but certain that Spangler is coming with CDD to Knoxville. I've heard good things about him but what is an LA Tech fan's opinion?

Also I saw that Coach Stan Eggen might be another candidate to come, your thoughts?

I appreciate the post by the Tech people. Please forgive some on our board for being rude. It is great to know that we have a coach who has earned his way to this job. He has a famous dad but he does not need to promise the AD he will come with him to get the job. Lane minus Montey = no hire. As with us, the USC fans are more excited about Montey than Lamo. I like how he went to Virginia as a walkon and earned his way. He could have ridden Saban's coat tails into this year but chose to earn experience as a head coach and an AD at a very hard place. It may take a few years longer now but our program will be back on top.

Agreed! Glad to have new fans that will support our team. I know most of us would love to hear anything else you can share about our new coach. Just ignore the rude posters that act as if they were raised by wolves. We do. :)
