Lofton Played With Testicular Cancer

I fell for his parents too. The feelings you have when someone you love has cancer are hard enough let alone having to hear from the talking heads about what is wrong with him all the time. It must have been like torture every time they heard this crap. Just a reminder that their child has a serious disease. A very tough road for everyone involved I'm glad everything turned out for the best for their entire family. Good things happen to good people.

Its one thing that he beat it.

Its another that he played with it.

What is truly amazing is that as he took all that criticism and grief from people about how off his game was this year, he never said a thing.

That, my friends, is pure character.

:good!:

Unbelievable.

I don't know which is more amazing, 1) that he played with cancer and after having surgery, or 2) that it was kept under wraps.

Chris, buddy, YOU are the man.

What that guy was able to do this year in the face of the criticism and pressure that he was facing early on is amazing. He was humble and quiet... didn't choose to come out and have an Oprah moment and bleed his problems out to the public. Didn't make excuses when he struggled. All he did was be a real man through out this entire process... We need more people with the character and strength of Chris Lofton.

i'm not trying to bash Lofton. What he did was remarkable and nothing should be taken away from him for not bringing it up during the season, but I find it odd that he brings up while he's doing everything possible to hopefully get drafted.

I am in complete shock. He is a true role model. I pray that he will be cancer free for the rest of his life.

Talk about manning up.... unbelieveable. Got a bit teary-eyed when reading about the radiation treatments. Kudos to Chris Low, as well, for a fine article.

Chris Low is a GREAT writer. Chris Lofton is an even GREATER human being. Makes you sick to your stomach when athletes act like jackasses and take everything for granted.

Chris, good luck to you and THANK YOU for pleasure of being able to watch you play for the VOLS for 4 years.

I make a motion his jersey is retired at the first home game of the 08-09 season. Or better yet, wait 'til the UK game.
