Lofton Doubtful for Wednesday.

Last thing you want to do is rush him back out there and lose him for three more weeks.

There's no reason to get him out there on Wednesday, it's just too soon. It's like Ainge trying to play against LSU, not enough time to get to playing shape.

The trainer had said last Friday that even UF would be pushing it.

I agree LG.I studied our remaining games on our schedule and a realistic approach is to win 1 or 2 in the SEC tournament. We have tough games upon us.We lose to UGA at home,it's gonna be rough!

I have a bad feeling that we may be making another visit to the NIT this season.

hope our team doesnt have this mentality
I hope they don't either, but with all of the freshmen we have playing major minutes it wouldn't be hard for them to go into a tail spin. Dane needs to step-up big time. He seems like he has been non-existant the past few games.

Bruce isn't a loser. Neither is Bradshaw or Lofton. I think those guys need to hold the freshmen accountable for what they do or fail to do on the court. You play much better when you're worried about getting on a senior's bad side.

This is why I took the Vandy and OSU losses so bad. I knew that if something happened, we NEEDED those games. Losing b/c of freethrows really hurts when you start losing because you lost 20pts a game in your starting shooting guard.

I'm going to be disappointed if we don't go to the tourny, but under the circumstances, at least the future's looking bright. Next year I'll be looking for about 25wins. This season...I just dunno.

Yeah, and you want to secure up your prediction that Florida is gonna wipe the floor with Tennessee, right? Wouldn't hurt if we were minus Lofton, now would it. Lofton will be ready for UF and I expect a game of it.

Coach Pearl said last night on Vol Calls that Chris wasn't doing as well in practice as he'd hoped. The tendons are fine and there's very little swelling, but there's a deep bone bruise that's causing Lofton a lot of discomfort. CBP said he'd evaluate Lofton some more today, but said that his return is unlikely and that he doesn't want to risk further injuring Chris.

They can still pull it off if they can jut play fundamental bball. Hit your freakin free throws and dont turn the ball over. The crowd will be a huge motivation for them so I hope we can turn out and be loud. Big pivot game anyway you look at it.

Maybe the home crowd can help them avoid another meltdown in the final 10 minutes.

Your concern is touching.

Two things:

First, I happen to like the University of Tennessee. Yes, I love my Gators, but I am rooting for you guys to get it together and make the tournament. For one, I like Pearl a lot. And I like the competition.

I live in Orlando and have watched the whole Grant Hill saga and the Dolphins' QB woes for the past year. Bringing people with injuries back too soon costs you in the long run and a whole lot more than just the additional games they miss -- it leads to resentment and finger-pointing.

Second, I don't give a rat's-azz whether Lofton plays against Florida. My feeling is that the Gators would smoke UT this Saturday even if you had three Lofton's at full strength because you have NO INSIDE GAME. At all. None. Zilch.

In fact now I want you to have Lofton back for the Saturday game. Will savor the victory all the more.

Go ye Mighty Gators.

Pick a score LAW. I say UT-70 UF-68 in a huge upset, well of coarse I do but I will wager no money either.

I really hope your right, but I think it is just wishful thinking. I am not one that likes moral victories, but it would be an achievement to lose by less than 15 without Lofton.

Florida 84
UT 50

Not kidding. Should be blow-out City!! And now I REALLY want you to keep Lofton out tomorrow and bring him back at 100 % on Saturday because if he does not play versus Florida then I'll have ot listen to all the "what ifs" on here.

fwiw, i agree with Law that the worst thing to do would be to bring lofton back early. hurt the ankle any more we could lose him for the season and we'd go from NCAA lock in Dec to possible NIT snub in March.

He should wait for Florida, but if we win it will take more than Loftons return, it will be one hell of an effort. Are you goin to a bar to watch the game or at the house?
