Outside of Luke Stocker at TE, who else is an absolute lock to start for us next season, any position? (barring injury). Janzen Jackson seems like a lock at Safety as long as he keeps his nose clean.

Seems like a lot of positions are completely up for grabs, especially spots at all the linebacker positions because so many guys are trying to come back from injury.

Moore and Jones would be the obvious choices to start at WR but maybe some of these freshman can push for their spots over the summer?

Thoughts on others that are starting locks?

Aaron Douglas will likely start on the OL, and Bryce Brown should win the starting job at RB. Other than those, and the couple you mentioned, most of the rest of the spots will be up for grabs.

Aaron Douglas, provided all the rumors are false and his stiff is together....

Don't foget our freshman kicker.... Doubt anyone on the roster now will take that position....

The rumors are not false, they were even confirmed by Hubbs atleast the broken car window part but if he can keep the off the field stuff separate he should be a lock. Chris Walker is also a lock

I think that D Moore and G Jones are locks to be the 1 and 2 WRs.
I wouldn't quite call Bryce a lock yet. Let's see if T Poole can can impress the coaches.
Stocker-Yes
Douglas-Yes
Janzen-Yes
Palardy-Yes
Walker-Yes
Marin-Yes
I'd go ahead and say Art Evans
Also say Nick Reviez

I almost included him, but will he be ready for the start of the season? I know he tore his ACL in late September of last year, and sometimes it can take a full year or even a little longer to fully recover from that type of injury.

I might agree to Evans as "frontrunner" but not sure I'd go as far as "lock" at this point. We'll see.

pretty sure I saw from G8terh8ter or LV Hubbs said all those rumors were pretty much false IIRC. And Chris Walker is a lock.

Walker, Janzen Jackson, Stoker, Douglas (if not suspended), Lamarcus Thompson, Kevin Cooper (if we use a fullback). Tailback competition should be interesting. If we get good QB play, our WR's will look good. G Jones and D Moore are better than avg. Watch for Teague to possibly be a corner (and a good one at that with a little seasoning). Montori Hughes is a lock because we don't have any better option (interesting to see if DT J. Brown pans out). Marlon Walls could be a beast, we just have no depth at DT.

If this new staff is any good at all and if TN is going to be any good, then there should not be even 1 starting position locked up right now, every position should be earned through effort and competition on the practice field.

Anyone predicting BB as a lock to start needs to reevaluate our RBs, I will say he is the main player to beat out but no lock.

I would love to believe that Nick will be fully recovered and back to start at LB but I'm a bit scared it may be 2 or 3 games into the season before he's in top shape, confident after that serious injury and ready to start again.

I love his work ethic and positive attitude but normally it takes awhile to be 100% confident that the injury is healed 100% and he can forget about it and just go hit somebody again.

Interesting that you left G Jones off that list... Know something?

Very true. I hope that's the way this staff approaches things. I also hope that the competition isn't over when we leave the spring or even fall camp. Make it practice to practice...week to week....you earn that start each and every time you set foot on the field or into the gym.

welcome to the board.

I agree with you for the most part, but I think once we name a starting QB we need to stick with him until he proves he can't do the job. The QB position isn't one where guys need to be looking over their shoulder, the confidence of the staff in that player is important.
