Lock down the state, please!

UT won a NC with a ton of TN talent back in the 90s. The talent level in this state is far better now!!! I didn't say we have 85 players from TN. But, I would love to have between 25% to 33% of the team from TN that are studs!!! The point is. We aren't getting enough of the instate studs. Don't try to make my post something that it isn't!!!!!!! You are one of the best at trying to do so!!!

Tennessee won a NC with the best talent they could get from around the nation in the 90s. When Tennessee is good they are recruiting nationally. This article alludes to that.

He'd probably have sucked if he'd have ended up here. I walked into the den a few minutes ago right as the a&m qb completed a big pass down the right sideline. Just before he threw it the left side defensive end got around the corner. The qb felt the pressure and slid to the right before completing the pass. I couldn't help but think if that would have been jg he'd have been sacked and we've have all talked about how bad our line was. But this qb (like most) avoids the pressure and it never even gets mentioned. We're just a train wreck
Common thing among good QB's.

Problem with the legacy class was not SEC enough linemen. Most of those guys were skill players. The TN guys we are losing to Clemson, UGA, Bama, OK, and OSU are buying into the recruiting pitch of winning and development. The problem for us is that it's hard to win and put a bunch of guys in the NFL when we're not getting the same share of elite talent that we used to. CJP faces the same problem that Dooley and Jones faced, he's going to have to win some games against the big boys with lesser talent and not choke any more away against the teams we should beat.

I agree. What I liked from CJP last year was that he miss managed one game and never made the mistake again.

It shows he has what it takes to be an amazing coach. On top of that he has recruited a very good class with a possibility of getting even better on NSD.

He has addressed the roster needs with this signing class and to add depth on the O-line he recruits two massive PWOs with high IQs (which lineman need). That is what a true coach does and to this point I am impressed by CJP.

All that being said I hope he gets an OC who can run the offense and allow him to only handle the defense, I see great things happening for us with a legit OC hire.

Actually when Tennessee was successful during the 90s and early 2000s, Fulmer was successfully recruiting Georgia, Carolinas and California. I will say the state has gotten stronger in terms of high school football however these kids don't remember Tennessee being good. Its like trying to sell a 5 star kid from Denver to go to Colorado, he doesn't remember Colorado being dominant. Tennessee is the 50 year old homecoming queen still bragging about her time in high school.

Yeah it would be different if we were bringing in better players that we’re going out. Who did we recruit that was better than Jacob Phillips, tyrel Dodson, Emanuel hall, Cade Mays, master Teague just to name a few

I would be curious to know the actual breakdown of where players on that roster were from, especially the two deep. I wonder if it's as Tennesse heavy as you think...

So how do you make a recruit stay instate if they want to go elsewhere?

Kidnap em, lock them in the area of Neyland Stadium where they used to keep the cadavers,, and crank up Rocky Top woo in the darkened room until they turn or their heads explode like in "Mars Attacks". Great plan.

We don’t need all of our players from TN, but we shouldn’t neglect it like we have during the decline. I’d like to see more emphasis on the instate blue chip players who are good enough for other top programs.

The 2020 class will tell us how Pruitt recruits the state because there’s some solid D1 talent available.

I am so tired of seeing TN players at other colleges doing great things! Seeing Tyrel Dodson have a pick six for Texas A&M makes me sick. Can we PLEASE lock down the state like we did in the 90's for the most part? I hope Pruitt and company will lock down TN and poach from FL, GA, NC, and SC a ton!!!
You do realize that in the 90’s the state had like maybe ten d1 players every year. Five of which were worth coming to Tennessee. Now the state has like at least 30-35 a year. Can’t get them all. Plus the Nashville area has so many kids who are not originally from Tennessee they don’t have that state pride.
