First off, if any of this information is being repeated, sorry about that.
A. Julio Jones will play Saturday. The origin of him being out refers to a catch he made early in the Ole Miss game. According to his Twitter, the ball hit his hand awkwardly, and stretched some of the stitches. He says he's fine, and will be playing.
B. Must admit that I jacked a lot of this info, and the breakdown, with a little help from StatSheet.com's college football section
- Average scoring wise, as expected, Alabama wins that battle, as they score 33.3 points per game, compared with 23.3 for Tennessee.
- Alabama has allowed only 12.9 points per game, compared with 24.8 points allowed per game with Tennessee.
- Total yardage, Alabama gets an average of 427.1 yards per game, compared with 332.4 for the Vols.
- Alabama allows 288 yards per game, compared with 376.8 for Tennessee
- For a team with Eddie Lacy, Trent Richardson, and Mark Ingram, the Tide are only ranked 37th in the nation in rushing with 183.6 yards per game. It's still better than the 136.2 yards per game that Tennessee averages.
- Alabama has a +7 in the turnover margin, good enough for 10th. Tennessee is tied for 53rd, with a +1.
- Greg McElroy is 6th in the NCAA in passing efficiency, with a 168.97 rating. Compare that with Matt Simms, who is 61st in the nation, with a 128.91 rating
- Trent Richardson is Alabama's leading rusher, with 505 yards, on 73 attempts, with 4 TD's. Mark Ingram has 71 carries for 469 yards, and 6 TD's. Compare that with Tauren Poole, who has 95 carries for 491 yards and 5 TD's.
- About the only place UT beats Alabama is SOS. Alabama, according to RTT, has the 46th strongest schedule, compared with the 21st overall for Tennessee
