Little Dicky Baby Vitale

I remember when Joe Morgan was on Sunday/Monday Night baseball and thought that was as bad as it could ever get. Vitale just had to go and prove me wrong.

When UK opened up the lead in the 1st half he just kept going on about how tough their defense was. Are we watching the same game? Because the ball not falling through the hoop on a wide open shot is usually not an indicator of a lock-down defense, at least in my book.

I loved listening to Joe Morgan call games

Been listening to him for the past 20 plus years. Can't take him too, too seriously. He is just a hairy-eared old kook who knows basketball. Most entertaining b-ball commentator around. That is why I love listening to him. He is a legend.

Tradition from the last century, he had some days in the sun decades ago and in parts of the country he’s still a name. Some traditions die hard like Corso as well. Producers need some fresh angles.

I like Corso. He isn't in your face and shares his time in front of the camera equitably with the other 3 or 4 guys.

Vitale though. He's the "color guy". He's supposed to play second fiddle to the PBP guy and add bits and pieces. But Dickie V can't shut up. He's hogs 75% of the broadcast and thinks it's about him. ESPN should cut bait with him or just keep him as a studio analyst.

Am I the only one gagging and puking every time that fool opens his pie hole? I had to turn the volume off and go to a radio although it is slightly out of sync. If Calipari or Krzyzewski farts his ears pop.

GO BIG ORANGE!

I have no problem with Vitale, but the announcer calling the game, Karl whatever, was a complete moron. He said twice during the game, once mid-first half, that UK was dominating the offensive glass, even though UT had a 3-2 advantage on offensive rebounds, and then he said it again later even though UT had a 7-4 advantage at that time on the offensive glass.

Man, he was awful in that game. I forced myself to listen to him as long as I could to avoid the asynchronisity of the radio broadcast with the tv (I stream via WatchEPSN so the delay can get up to 30 seconds or more). I was doing a good job ignoring him until we were forced to call a time out and he went into the commercial break screaming, "They're going crazy! They're screaming out, 'We are! Ken-Tuck-Y' (x4)'". It was un-frickin-belieavable.

Also all their diatribe about Kentucky's suffocating defense when it was all about Tennessee missing wide open looks including layups. But hey I guess you have to fill air time...

Give me Rafferty any day. He at least gets saved by usually having Gus Johnson do the play by play.

Bill Raftery was always the worst to me. I never got to listen to him when he wasn't already senile and a characature of himself (much like Dickie V), but I remember - even at 12 to 15 years old - hating when Bill Raftery and Verne Lundquist would call CBS games.
