Just wanted to see what everyone's thoughts were entering this season. The roster is young but appears to be deep. Here's my guess for minute distribution:
C-C. Green, 20 mpg
F-Davis, 30 mpg
G/F-Jackson, 25 mpg
G-Westbrook, 30 mpg
G-Hayes, 25 mpg

Bench:
Z. Green, 20 mpg
L. Brown, 15 mpg
Collins, 10 mpg
KK, 10 mpg
Burrell, Massengill, Harris share minutes in blowouts.

Based on the roster, it appears that this team's strong suit will be perimeter play, so I'd look for Holly to run a 3 guard system and have Davis play as a 4. I'd look for Green to get the starting nod at center unless Collins is a stud from the get go. KK should get more minutes this year without Nared/Russell in the lineup, and Brown likely gets some minutes as a stretch 4 to spot Davis, or have Davis shift to the 3.

I don't know a ton about Burrell, but based on her HS rankings, I'm guessing she'll be behind Z. Green on the depth chart, and Tennessee has Westbrook/Hayes/Jackson who should all get big minutes once again so she may have a hard time breaking into the rotation as a freshman. Same with Massengill.

G-Westbrook, 34 mpg
F-Davis, 34 mpg
Evina Westbrook and Rennia Davis will be the backbone of this team. It will be hard to take them out with the game close unless one gets in foul trouble.
C-C. Green, 15 mpg fouls will hurt her time.
G/F-Jackson, 23 mpg
G-Hayes, 22 mpg

Bench:
KK, 15 mpg fouls will hurt her time.
Z. Green, 15 mpg
L. Brown, 10 mpg
Collins, 10 mpg
Massengill, 10 mpg
Burrell, 7 mpg
Harris, 5 mpg
the early games the subs will get more minutes and as the season goes on Holly will play about 6 or 7 players. The bigs minutes will be determined on how many fouls they get.

Too many close games last year kept players from getting minutes. Not being negative, buy how is that going to change this year, especially with a young roster.

Burrell can score and can shoot the ball don`t sleep on her. Holly will play her a lot watch. As for Massengill she will play a lot to.

Brown will play 20 minutes a game, green, davis, westbrook will lead in minutes. Meme will play anywhere from most to 20 minutes, she really needs to step up her lackluster offensive skills, misding layup after layup after layup, floffing up floor afterwards. She either shapes up and becomes a header for someone younger will gladly take her spot. Holly won't just play you because of your class. I think our best lineups are not with her on the floor...unless she gets her skills locked down. 3 guards at least are better, too short for forward. Lou will play there, and collins, and no one is getting Davis off floor unless she is in foul trouble

I personally think Massengill will play a lot at least 20 a game. She has an all around game is an excellent passer and very intelligent player. I think Zarielle Green will be the other freshman to play a lot of minutes. She can drive the ball and shoot the three I can see her being on the floor at least 20 minutes. I also don't think Hayes will start but will continue her role as sixth man. I will be interested to see if she has improved her outside shooting at all and also improved her passing and intelligence when handling the ball.
We have to hope this group will be much more intelligent and cut way down on the silly turnovers. You hope they have all improved their shooting.

If the team continues to be offensively post oriented the best post in preseason practice will get the most playing time.

Besides turnovers and overall shooting, the one thing that has to improve is perimeter defense. Last season too many guards just blew by our guards.

Meme improved with every week last season. Rarely suffering a setback. She was beginning to attack the basket, after playing more or less, perimeter the prior year.

She can use this summer to learn to attack and finish layups-in traffic and maybe add some mid-range to her game.

At the end she was playing her best basketball...Or didn't you notice, CHi?

I don't see Holly going that deep, maybe if we get into foul trouble. I expect 7-8 player rotation.

Notre Dame won with 7 players.

Depth is overrated, especially if your starters are ballers and play well together.

Holly find 7 players, that plays the game like Lady Vols. If there's more fine. But first we have to find five.

I back Pat and roll with Holly!

F-Davis, 30 mpg
G/F-Jackson, 30 mpg

G-Westbrook, 30 mpg

Bench:
L. Brown, 20 mpg

Massengill, 15 mpg
Burrell/Harris get minutes in blowouts

What hurts about losing Hayes is it limits Westbrook's ability to play off guard unless Massengill is up to the task as a freshman. I also don't want to see Massengill thrown into the fire like Westbrook/Hayes were last year...both players hit a wall and really struggled finishing the year. I'd rather see Massengill brought on slowly and then eventually take over the PG role if she's up to it. A good comparison is Lawson taking over for Ace Clement as a freshman midway through her first year...if anyone else remembers that.

Hayes absence does provide opportunity for players like Burrell, Brown and Green to log more minutes. We'll miss Hayes quickness and ability to penetrate opposing defenses, but hopefully we'll have better 3pt shooting with Green potentially moving into the starting 5. Another year where we'll likely be relying heavily on freshmen. Hopefully they're up for the task.

I thought Lawson started as a freshmen, and they were running a 3 guard lineup. I recall Lawson being benched in favor of Clement early in the season because of her tendency to get in foul trouble in the first half, and only recall her starting in the NC game because Clement got hurt.

I would prefer to see Rennia play at the wing instead of the high post. I don't think she's as sturdy as Nared was, and could see her getting worn down pretty quickly. I'd like to see the following lineup:

PG - Westbrook (25 min), Massengill (15 min)
SG - Jackson (30 min), Green (10 min)
SF - Davis (30 min), Green (10 min)
PF - Collins (20 min), Brown (10 min), Harris (10 min)
C - Green (25 min), Kushkituah (15 min)

I'm sure PF looks iffy, but even if they just play defense and rebound, I'd like to think those 3 players could keep things under control at that position.

You don’t think Rae Burrell will get any minutes?

That is why I would run some starters out early on, then go to 5 in 5 in rotation so I could look at everyone in a game environment. I don't care if you open 0-8 as long as you finish 20-0

I believe Lawson started but am pretty sure she took over PG duties midway through the year and Clement played off ball. I actually like that lineup more than mine..would rather see two frontcourt players and Davis on the wing too. Especially since she’s likely our go to player this year.
