Smith will be one we Vol fans will have in conversations with the likes of C. Smith, Adkins, and R. White. Just dont see him being considered a LB even when the scheme will call for it.

How much does Lathers weigh now? No way he is only 217? His arms are 217.

Not a lot of players go from 210 to 265, or even 250. And if he did, he'd lose most of his speed.

Too slow. Generally, just look at the Rivals list over the years...LB in the <235 & 4.6 or higher 40 times tend to not translate as well to the collegiate level (too small to be a DL, too slow to be an LB at this level.)

This is one of the weakest units on the team, one of the weakest in the SEC, and will still be for the short-term future.

Hard to argue with that. I do think that a healthy Greg King can make this unit better immediately.

Harris is a stud. Dominated in a highly competitive class down in Georgia. He wasn't recruited by a lot of schools because he was solid to UT. He will see immediate PT on special teams and will start to get plenty of reps as a sophomore if he progresses like he should.

Lol, there are multiple reasons that Askew has not sniffed the field. Speed is not even remotely on that list. He has every bit of speed and athleticism to be a great LB. Unfortunately, that is not all it takes.

I would disagree with this statement. It depends on a guy's frame - some have room to grow into an end and others just don't. Maggitt does. Chris Walker is a good comparison IMO an even better one is Jermaine Cunningham from UF a few years back. He was only around 200 in high school but lightening quick, and by his junior year he was 6-3 250 and started on that 08 NC team. Now a 260+ outside backer for the Jags. There's no concern IMO about Maggitt being a tweener because Wilcox' defensive philosophy is multiple, meaning we are a base 4-3 but on 3rd downs he stands that weakside end up to come of the edge. Now if only Montori decides to show up this year, we'd have an ideal nosetackle.

True. Saw Askew on the strip the other day. He could have been no more than 5-10. Reveiz and Kevin Simon were two major exceptions to the rule. I remember hearing the issue with Askew was his coverage skills are just lacking... like a shorter, less athletic version of Chris Donald.

Frankly, I think a lot of folks are overlooking Austin Johnson, judging by the make believe depth charts posted on here with A.J. Johnson or Propst penciled in. When they moved him back to MLB last season he pushed Reveiz big time in fall camp. The guy just has a knack for making big plays. And you can't pick on his athleticism either, if you recall the pass he caught over the middle as a fullback vs SCe in 09 when he outran one safety and then stiff-armed the other. That said, I would love to see A.J. Johnson come in after that and lock down the middle for 3 years.

that anyone would place the word "dominance" so close to any reference to our LBs is hilarious. The LBs were bad last year (reveiz being a good story is beside the point) and they won't be much, if any, better this year. It's BIg East caliber.
