I beg your pardon for the confusion. I was making reference to those clamoring to bench him, those mansplainin’ that he can’t hit a slider. I’ve been keeping up.Wow. You really misconstrued my comments. No pitchfork or vitriol from this fan. I‘m a huge fan of Blaine Brown—-just thought he needed some time on the bench to reset himself. He obviously needed to continue to play through it. I’m thrilled with his success tonight and hope it continues. He’s young and inexperienced but this year‘s struggles will pay huge dividends for him and the team next season.
Absolutely. You would agree at some point all players, at every level from T-ball to the majors consistently, and constantly, have to work on their games? One game in a midweek is not gonna stop the noise if he can’t do it in an SEC game.
On the homer AB, he pulled the first two pitches foul. Good adjustment.Brown has obviously been working on driving the ball the opposite field and it showed today on his double and HR. He reset himself in the best possible way. Let’s hope that approach continues as it will make Brown ridiculously successful.
It’s def hitting a baseball. Golf is playing against yourself. Cmon man.
I think you need to start a new thread. Here’s a suggestion for the title:Yeah no it isn't and golf isn't just a mental game otherwise every goofball with even remotely decent athletic ability would be good at everything besides the short game and they definitely are not. Making contact off of a halfway decent pitcher isn't difficult. Now, if your comparison is hitting a homeroom against an above average pitcher then yes baseball would be more challenging. However, if the comparison is hitting a relatively straight drive 200+ yards vs making contact off of an average pitcher then golf is by far the more difficult sport. I could coach someone who has halfway decent athletic ability to make contact with a baseball in 30 minute session. A LOT of people have been playing golf for decades and still can't hit a 200+ yard drive relatively straight.
Ha. You will NEVER convince me golf is harder than baseball. I think most experts who know far more than me (or you) would agree.Yeah no it isn't and golf isn't just a mental game otherwise every goofball with even remotely decent athletic ability would be good at everything besides the short game and they definitely are not. I agree Taylor. In golf you have no one trying to alter your shot/swing. I've prob spent waaayyyy to much time/money over the last 40+ years on my golf swing. And there have been great strides made in the handicap over those years (pretty much limited to bad hips, shoulders, and back these days) BUT never did i feel golf was more of a challenge than trying to hit a letter high fast ball or a change up/breaking ball. The opponent in baseball ALWAYS figured in on my difficulty to hit but NOT ONCE in golf...JMOHa. You will NEVER convince me golf is harder than baseball. I think most experts who know far more than me (or you) would agree.
I still think the best thing Blake did was decline the invites to play that summer. He went home and worked with a familiar hitting coach and focused on getting plate discipline and in the field and it paid off tenfold. He needed a reset at the plate and a position that made him a highly draftable prospect and boy did it work!Having played at a fairly high level. I can assure you no one feels worse than BB . It really messes with your psyche when you are supposed to produce and can’t. I’ve said this multiple times. During Blake Burks sophomore year I wanted to kill him a 100 times because of him swinging at bad pitches.I had to keep reminding myself that he is a kid . Look at him now of the 7 hrs he’s hit in double A four have been opo. Kids develop at different times. Let’s support BB and pick him up.
1000 agree with you.I still think the best thing Blake did was decline the invites to play that summer. At the risk of sounding like Eddie Haskell, I think you have done a good job letting this thread run. Some of the "meanness" of the game threads is absent, and the discussion has been substantative. While the thread title is somewhat provocative, the content has been mildly surprising in actual observations and insights.Technically this thread should invoke rule 1, but there’s been some good convo. Still holding out hope, but I hope people stop bagging on the kid.
Couldn’t someone amend the thread title? At the risk of sounding like Eddie Haskell, I think you have done a good job letting this thread run. Nicely done, Mod-man.
