Lindsey Nelson Stadium,

Remember when they used to have "hit the bullseye" and other signs on the porches? They nixed those as well. Imagine telling someone who spends that much money on a dang porch that they can't put up a humorous and non-offensive sign. BUT with such a long waiting list for season tickets, I guess they don't give a crap about keeping people happy.

And then STILL having 4 or 5 unused porches on the nicest baseball day of the year. Don't get me started...

I remember being dumb enough to dream of the porches being some sort of fun, rowdy (within reason) kind of infield at Talledega type place with flags all over the place, signs, and general fun.

...sigh...

People around us were told at Friday’s and Saturday’s game they could not place their coats on the wall above the third base dugout (near where it says Volunteers on the front of the dugout wall, but did not block the word Volunteers. See the photo showing the area I’m talking about before it was repainted this year).

Why? They were told it does not look good on television 🙄

Ugh, then it wasn't just us. We sit at the end of the dugout on the 1B side where the wall slants down. They SPRINTED down on Saturday when they saw the guy in front of me put his peanuts and drink on the top of the dugout.

On Sunday, The same guy got gruff and huffy 3 or 4 kids that had gaggled up to get autographs at the netting after the game. Not one of the kids was over 8 or 9 years old. The game was over and the team was already having meetings in RF, and he comes down barking at them that they have to be in a row and not at the bottom of the stairs. I get keeping aisles clear, but it didn't require that. Those kids went from smiling, laughing, and excited to see the team, to disappointed, confused and bummed they lost their spot.

That's the kind of focus on such petty things that really annoy people (and make a lot of your usher and security staff look bad).

We got threatened to get thrown out a few years ago because they took our usher and moved him to a different spot and brought someone else in. This guy thought he owned the world but got a rude awakening. At that point it was myself, Burke's parents, Peeble's dad, and about 4 other player's dads and moms. When he threatened to throw us out I looked at him while holding Burke's dad back, btw, he is a big man, and told the guy we would be right back in but he would be gone real fast. I pulled the you must not know who we are. I have Tony's personal cell phone. He went and got a supervisor and when they realized who we were he was moved immediately and never seen again. I get part of it but they are also ridiculous with some of it. Ego trip for some and some just need to keep their jobs.

Our usher was really sweet about it and was apologetic, saying that his boss told them they had to run down there and make sure no one was hanging stuff over the wall. I'd love to know how high up it goes and where it's really coming from. It doesn't do me any good to raise hell with an usher about it, but I'm not above raising hell with somebody!

Ha. GA has the same policy. I thought it was they just didn’t like my wet orange towel back in 2023, but later saw them make same request to a GA fan.

Hey UTAD, you know what else looks bad on TV at night? I’ve noticed that one of the orange lights that illuminates a light pole behind the porches doesn’t work. Most probably couldn’t care less, but my OCD does.
Ha. I noticed the one in far LF doesn’t work and I’m like, how is that possible? They are brand new,

The usher was nice enough. I actually felt bad for her. You could tell she thought it was complete BS. I have a call into the UTAD.

The student section does have places to sit drinks and lean on. So part of the concern has been taken care of. I don't see them being moved. It allows them to control them and is easy entrance and control. The things administration desires.

Reading all of these stories and experiences, and it honestly depresses me to hear how we’ve invested hundreds of millions of dollars to renovate LNS to be a better fan experience, yet we’ve somehow done the opposite and removed all of the character and passion from the stadium by treating fans like garbage.

The stadium certainly looks pretty, but watching games on TV there still are a ton of empty seats and it sounds as quiet as a church mouse compared to what LNS used to be.

I didn't walk down there this past weekend see they had done that. I'm glad to hear that, I'll check it out tonight.

I was more speaking toward how it was pretty thin most of the weekend. I'm sure some of that is opponent based, etc. If the accommodations have been improved hopefully attendance does as well.

The only way I could see them moving is if they figure out somewhere further out to move them to allow for more premium colonization of that area...

This must have been a recent development as it wasn’t like that a few weeks ago. Glad they addressed it.

Its extremely disheartening sometimes if you've been in it through the ascension as well as visited a lot of other sporting venues. I've done both. I'm gonna be all over the place but I'm passionate about this...

The stadium is so nice, but its like walking in to a really nice hotel bar once you really experience it. Sure its nice, but there's no soul. Zero.

Its feels the same as Neyland and TBA have for years. I don't hide the fact I don't jive with Danny White and this is the heart of it. Its all so hyper focused on premium experience and revenue generation, any genuine emotional experience is gone. Its like eating out of a can every time you go. The same music, the same script, all of it. (And in LNS is a cheaper version of the other 2, example: The PA Guy) . Herd 'em in, hook up the milking machines, herd 'em out. That's the 'non-premium' experience.

Think of your favorite local restaurant. One with a single location thats been open for decades. Now imagine a PE firm bought it and franchised it as fast as possible.

THAT'S what it feels like in there.

Sports are about community and flavor. Its why we love them. The only community and flavor that exists in LNS now (and Neyland and TBA for that matter), are the pockets of regulars that show up for the majority of games. That's it. So many tickets are for corporate use, resold (a lot of them by UT, mind you), or just sit sold but unused- it filters out so many people that want to be in there. And once you are in there, there's so many hurdles to simply enjoying it (ticket pricing, concessions pricing, parking, etc, etc, etc) it filters out even more.

Add in the large swaths of premium areas that sit empty or 25% full for everything but a prime Saturday game.... the vibes are just way off. I get the game now in college athletics is money over everything. But there has to be some sort of middle ground otherwise they'll just bleed it dry and move on to the next thing...

Thank God Rodney is still out front. There's still a glimmer of hope...

Not defending their actions but I think this type of stuff is happening at places everywhere. I was at a concert at Bridgestone Arena about 2 years ago and my seats were on the front row of a section right on the floor. The people nextt to us had put their beers momentarily on the wall so they could take their coats off and an usher was on them like white on rice to tell them they couldn't set their drinks there. The guy wasn't a jerk or anything but I thought it was ridiculous they swarmed in that fast when clearly the people were just setting them there for a moment.

Before last weekend, it had been a year and one week since we won a home SEC series. The hornets nest has been removed.

I don't know what the environment was like in person but on tv it appeared lethargic.

How long til Danny $$$s tries to upcharge the fans for this as part of the “Premium PollenExperience Package?”
Daniel Dollars doesn’t give a rat’s ass about this fanbase. Just corporate, big money, dollars. Students section at Lindsey Nelson shows it. There was barely anyone there tonight, and if I was a student I wouldn’t be. It’s honestly criminal and I have no idea how there isn’t a bigger fuss about it
