Lincoln and blocked kicks

Daniel Lincoln deserves to be in jail just as much as nukeesee, edwards, and janzen. he should be arrested for assault with a deadly weapon (a football), with as many times as he has pelted the other team with his low kicks, he is pathetic. He was probably the mastermind behind the armed robbery. somebody give me palardy

Probably the dumbest comment I have seen on here in a while, but I am ready for Palardy to arrive. Is he coming in at January?

Is there a chance we can get petition going this week and send to NCAA to allow Lincoln the ability to kick fgs off tee for rest of year so it can get over the lineman!

I'm trying to remember if he had anyblocked last year? But four out of five..... this is unheard of in any league.

No I believe you compared his poor kicking to armed robbery.

yea i was trying to use humor to ease the pain of having a horrible kicker, who can't get his kicks high enough to get them over the line. i mean come on do you think that i believe a football is a deadly weapon, and he is assaulting ppl, no. do i think he is a horrible kicker and think he should be put in jail for that horrible kicking, maybe lol.

A question for those on Volnation with real football knowledge as far as mechanics, technique, etc. as far as Kickers are concerned---(technique wise) what is Lincoln doing wrong to have so many effing kicks blocked??? I mean the guy has to be setting some sort of record for # of kicks blocked in a season.

I've never looked so forward to a freaking KICKER being signed.

i've played football all my life, i have real football knowledge. However, i don't know anything about kicking mechanics, all i know is that his kicks are too low. I wasn't a kicker, if you have ever played football, you don't really care for the kickers on a given day of the week. Unless they actually win a game for you then you love em and take em out, then it goes back to the same thing the next day lol.

Worst kicking combination ever. Neither one is worth a damn. Palardy is a must--can't let UF steal him. Give Acosta a scholy too. I never want to see Lincoln or Cunningham again after this year.

UF isn't going to offer Palardy, and UT isn't going to offer Acosta. Acosta will have to walk-on if he comes here.

Surely there is a kicker on campus. Put out a call for a walk on for the remaining games. I am sure some kid would love to put on the uniform and help the team....We have to have kickers. It is tradition....I cried over the Bama thing and wished I could help Lincoln get the ball in the air....

Can we change him into Lincoln's uniform and just hope no one notices? I think it would be our best strategy for kicking.

dont think it will work.LOL:):)

We've got to start using another kicker. Anyone or just start going for it on 4th down. Lincoln can't get the ball over the line. We've had 4 blocked kicks in our last 5 tries.

Lincoln will be the kicker for the rest of the season only. He won't attempt another fg over 35 yards unless the game is out of reach. It will Palardy's job to lose next year.

well here's a basic checklist:

01) Is the snapper the same
02) Is the holder the same
03) Is the holder getting the ball down and turned (off the seams)
04) Is the holder keeping the vertical angle consistent
05) Is the line keeping the line at 7 yards and not collasping*

01) Is Lincoln still injured to some degree
02) Is he lining up for kicks consistently**
03) Is he locking his foot to early
04) Is his approach smooth so his head doesnt bob
05) Is his head staying down through the follow thru
06) Where is he striking the ball (theres a sweet spot
about 3" below the midline

* Obviously in the Alabama game they didnt. However, he was kicking
the ball very low. But one less yard necessitates the trajectory
being substantially greater. But clearly this is not the main issue.

** The approach angle varies with kickers. Some take a wider angle
which tends to give more lift, less drive. Jeff Hall was a very good kicker
who took a more shallow angle.

This is developed over time and is established by the time your
heading to college. Its a second nature response and while a
kicking coach will tweak little things, its not often there is a need for
a big mechanics change.

The head part of kicking is huge. At this level you will hear numbers
like 75% or more because the mechanics are so ground into your natural
response to the ball.

I can only watch the video of the games. This stuff gets sorted out on
the practice field. My hunch is he's still dealing with the injury to a lesser
degree, his confidence is very low, and he 's feeling the pressure of knowing
a premier kicker is coming in who naturally has a stronger leg.

One other note: The extra points had better height than the Memphis
game. But the blocked FG was low, so he's feeling the need to drive the ball more
maybe doubting his 40-45 yard range. That would explain his foot dragging
the ground.

What about Ethan Ingram? He's on the roster and how much worse can you get than Cunningham and Lincoln.

Pull a few kids off the soccer team and see how they do.

We had a kicker try to walk on at the beginning of the year. He is a freshman. Last year in high school he kicked a 46 yarder. And he more importantly gets lift on PATs which Lincoln even scares me with. Kiffin told him come and try to walk on in the spring as they weren't talking walk-ons in the fall. I figured it was cause we had Palardy coming or something but with Lincoln now I bet CLK wants that kid back.

He sucked out loud. That's four out of the last five blocked. Cunningham is horrible as well. I can't believe that on a campus of 26k we can't find a walk on soccer kicker to kick the ball into the end zone. Our special teams have gotten worse this year. I wouldn't kick a field goal for the rest of the year. 4th and 50, go for it

He's kicking it into peoples asses..literally.....That isnt due to a list of things friends..

He's a basket case.

You could see him dragging his leg through kicks. This is a guy who is trying, wants to be in the game, but just cannot get any power into his kicks. I hate it for him, but I hate it more for us.

Exactly. We finally have a special teams coach and we are worse on special teams this year than we ever have.

He kicks too flat, I guess he just doesn't have the leg strength or something to chip it over the line like stronger kickers. I'm sick of hearing people blame his injury as the reason. I, for one, think it's total BS. I see him on campus every week and he doesn't limp or anything. Also, if you see him warm up, he looks totally fine. just my 2 cents. That kicker from FL can't get hear soon enough.

Yes, I wish Eddie Gran would quit telling Lincoln to aim for the lineman's chest . Give me a break, man. Quit being an idiot. It obviously is not coaching.

ok, so here is my take on Lincoln...I said this in a previous thread but

he has a slow kick. He waits for the ball to be spotted before he even takes his first step to kick the ball. He has no trust in his holder. So by doing this he is going to kick the ball lower because he is attempting to rush his kick to keep it from getting blocked.

Also, a longer kick is going to be kicked lower anyways because you are attempting to drive the ball more than loft it. (this can not be avoided on long FG)

just my thoughts
