Lexvols guide to Lexington

Two hours prior to kick off you should be able to find something near the stadium. My best advice is to drive down Nicholasville Rd until you see Central Baptist Hospital. There are physician offices and houses around there that offer $10 parking.

Hardly. My Brother in Law lives across from Central Bap and they charge $25 a car for lawn parking... even for games like UL-M. If you are going to give somebody advice then don't give wrong advice. Especially for a game on Senior Night under the lights for a team looking to go 8-4. You'll just have the people you lie to pissed off when they go expecting to pay one price and end up paying 2-3 times more.

I'd take the Newtown Pike route, and maybe try and get a room at the Marriott or the Embassy Suites. There is also a Marriott Courtyard. You could check in and be on your way.

Again, more bad advice. Newtown Pike Extension currently under construction. For those of you planning to stay near Griffin Gate or Coldstream I would go ahead and plan an alternate route to Commonwealth due to this.

Here are my recommendations for those coming to town:

Eating: (Casual)Ramseys Diner, Atomic Cafe, Cheapside Bar and Grill, Drakes, Pazzos Pizza

(Upscale) Murrays or Merrick Inn...avoid Malones...it is a yuppy trap.

Drinking: Bluegrass Tavern, Redmons (both are right downtown) or Lynaghs Pub.

Overnight: Avoid the Ramada at the north end of town. Stay at the Embassy, Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton Suites at Lexington Green, or the Hampton or Fairfield off of Lake Crest Circle. Avoid the Hamburg area if you can. This is the "Turkey Creek" of Lex, and the traffic is deplorable.

Post your questions in this thread, and I will answer them if I'm able.

This place is one of my ten best bars/pubs, and I spent three years living in New Orleans.

It is the perfect tonic against football watched in freezing weather.

Damn. It sounds like Kentucky has turned into football heaven. High dollar tickets, big ticket prices miles from the stadium, fans everywhere. Incredible fir a shot at 8-4 and and a mid-tier bowl. Forgive us if we find that a bit difficult to believe and simply paint you as just another delusional homer.

What sections in the stadium are UT (visitor) sections? Fiancé is dropping me off on our way back from Cincy, so I don't want to go at it solo without my fellow orange brethren. If anyone has a spare ticket PM me.

Not a prayer you'll be able to find a ticket. You're going to Commonwealth stadium, where dreams happen.

I am making my first trip to Lexington and am looking for a hotel that is in the downtown area. Anyone know of one in that location that is somewhat affordable? Thanks

Lex doesn't have a place as good as the Brewery in Knoxville. I suggest Buffalo Wild Wings (off of Harrodsburg Rd), because they will have every game going. It is about 3 miles from downtown.

You can't beat Bdubs in any state. Love their commercial almost as much as their wings.

If you were semi literate, you would have caught the part that I told them to get off on New Circle road. I know it was a few words into the sentence. That could get pretty tricky for you.

It is too far to walk. The hotel may offer something on game day. I'd ask them.

I am looking at staying at the candlewood suites. Is this somewhat close to the stadium and the downtown are?

Just a note, dont park in the grass. Period. Theres gonna be tons of places with some lil lady out front and a sign saying parking $20 and maybe even cops telling you its ok. And then as soon as you leave to go to the game theyll walk up and down every single row and put a $15 parking ticket on every car. Fair warning.
