Lets think outside the box

Serious answer? Kevin Steele as HC and Lindsey as OC and HC in waiting. Not sure how it would work but it seems like the best out of the box idea.

Guys we are no longer eating at the grown ups table.

We are competing with Mississippi St and Conference USA teams for coaches.

We'll be poaching coaching talent from local high schools before all is said and done.

Is there any head coaches at a lower level that have been dominant. It worked at Ohio State with Jim Tressel.

Yes, Mike Houston is having phenomenal success at James Madison, where he possibly in the process of winning back to back FCS national titles. Prior to that he had success at the Citadel and prior to that he won a Division II national title. While at Citadel, his team pulled off an upset against South Carolina, beating the Gamecocks 23-22. I think we should try him before we go and hire someone like Kevin Steele, who has an abysmal losing record as head coach. Here is a link to Mike Houston's wikipedia page:

I can't help but notice your screen name and wonder what the connection is?

Former Falcons Head Coach Mike Smith. Lives part of the year in Tennessee. Phenomenal guy - former coach at Tennessee Tech defensive assistant. Waiting on another NFL HC gig but may not get opportunity.

Up and comers include Neal Brown of Troy and the coach up at James Madison.

With the money being tossed around - UT may hear from a current coach they do not anticipate. Possibly Brian Kelly?

Craig Bohl - currently HC at Wyoming - was the guy who turned North Dakota State into a juggernaut. His last three years there, the Bison were 43-2 with three consecutive national championships.

Beau Baldwin - OC at California - was 95-35 between Central Washington and Eastern Washington.

John Grass - HC at Jacksonville State - is 43-7 in four years at that school.

KC Keeler - HC at Sam Houston State - is 44-11 at that school; he was previously 86-52 at Delaware and 88-21-1 at Rowan. One of his Rowan teams beat the unbeatable Mount Union Purple Raiders in the D-3 playoffs as well.

I also mentioned Jason Candle - HC at Toledo - in a separate thread earlier today.

Have you seen Steeles HC resume? My lord. The answers are the following: Kiffin, Tee or Miles.
