With the way he hits I'd say strong safety. That's pry where I would put him anyways. More then likely, I'm sure the team will leave him at free safety.

I was about to say, "don't fix what ain't broken."
But then I realized our entire team is a little cracked and broken in areas.

Either way, I'd keep him at Safety.
He's fluid enough to play FS, and physical enough to play SS.

Someone with some knowledge school me. In the 3-4 do the db's play any different. I know Saban kept that Arenas guy near the los. Is that the role of one of the 3-4 cb's?

It doesn't necessarily affect the DB's all that much. Pretty much in a 3-4 one or both of your OLB's is going to be blitzing on every play and almost acting as another DE.

Certainly I can see the benefits of playing your corners closer to the line in a 3-4 for added run support though since you're missing a defensive linemen compared to a 4-3 or nickel look.

It also depends on how competent your DBs are. Regardless of the overall defensive scheme, if you have one or more "shutdown" CBs, you can freelance more with your safties and overall coverage alignments.
