I feel he gets a pass for this year. And everyone always points out the good things a coach brings to the table and to look forward to more of it in the future. But also as a fan who pays good money to go to games I feel we should talk about his weaknesses if any. We need to know if some of them are just 1st year jitters or if they will be continued in year 2 and 3. I thank everyone for your responses ahead of time.

Well, let's see. He likes to talk about Germans, hates when people call in sick, loves to lecture the team about showers, and he can't count to eleven (or so I've been told). We're doomed.

But on a positive note, the O line is going to be sick nasty in the near future, the special teams will win us some games in the future, the future receivers and QB are going to be among the best in the SEC, we have several promising RB's for the future, and the D line that we will bring in for the 2011 recruiting class is going to add solid depth and will possibly have several plug and play types of guys in it.

After the end of 2011, if we haven't seen any improvement, we'll know we got the wrong guy.

Some fans on here make no sence what so ever. Yeah lets get rid of him and start over again. Well Alabama and Florida wanted to get rid of Saban and Meyer the first year also. And the had alot more TALENT than what we got.

Alabama may have felt nervous about Saban after his first season, but were not in a frenzy like this board. And didn't Meyer finish 2nd in the east his first year? Florida was not after his head.

Dooley is no Saban.

He could be Urban Meyer, but we don't have Tebow and roster full of 4 and 5* recruits.

That's because Saban was a proven coach, Dooley is not.

Don't over-complicate it.

I dont think we get rid of the guy...at the same time the guy with the law degree has in 5 games (at least) had difficulty getting 11 men on the field...whether it be 13 or 10... that is a coaching PROBLEM...that is ALL on the coaches...if it happens once or twice you can say the players screwed up but multiple times in 5 games... ALL ON THE COACHESS.......he does not have the depth or experience of other teams......but...

the main difference in those teams people compare UT to...when they were losing and going 6-6 no one beat them by 40 at home and then 30 and 30 on road...see.
teams needs to be much more competitive..
my main concern...
I HAVE NOT SEEN THE ENTIRE TEAM FIGHT FOR AN ENTIRE 60 MINUTES YET....

I wasn't over-complicating it. I was simply saying that Alabama and Florida were not trying to get their head coaches fired the first year.

We have half of a team. Therefore, it makes since that they can only play half of a game.

Patience is earned.

Their coaches earned it before being awarded the job--and Meyer did well his first year as noted (he went 9-3 and to the Outback Bowl after taking a Utah team to an undefeated season and a BCS bowl).

Ours has to earn patience on the job. It's that simple. That's what happens when fans are fine with an incompetent AD.

Whether Dooley is the right guy or not remains to be seen.
One thing he can bring to our program is stability.
The strength of any HC is the quality of his staff. Dooley wants to win. If his staff doesn't produce, he'll find one that does.
As for Wilcox, this is his first time through an SEC schedule. He's a smart guy and I'll guarantee that in the off season he'll be rewriting a playbook that will work in the SEC. He'll also be recruiting players that can tackle, cover receivers and provide a pass rush.
Whether you like Chaney's play calling or not, he is one of the most respected names in football when it comes to offensive strategy. He's also on the list of assistant coaches most likely to be offered HC jobs, so he may me gone before long.
Chaney and Thompson are considered ace recruiters. Your 4 and 5 stars will come when our program exhibits some semblance of stability.
If Dooley isn't doing any better than 7 or 8 wins in 3 or 4 years, then would be the time to consider replacing him with your top name coach, but doing it in a way that doesn't completely destroy what's in place. That would probably require getting a new AD before then.
As for getting the right number of players on the field, Dooley himself said 'we're not good enough coaches to do what we were trying to do'(paraphrase) so they'll try playing with the guys on the field in those situations.

Fans had nothing to do with Hamilton being hired, nor will we have anything to do with his being fired. Besides, Hamilton is simply a puppet of the big money boosters anyways.

Hamilton, not the boosters, will be held accountable for the failure of the UT football program and for his incompetence in dealing with CBP.

Make a note on that prediction. :hi:

Absolutely agree, but my point was that the boosters may enjoy having a puppet as an AD and could possibly use their power to keep the incompetent boob in that position longer than he should be there.

The question is when? I'd say he's been cashing UT paychecks too long already. He should forfeit his salary and take a demotion to towel boy or something along those lines.

Excellent point!

If that's the case, the contributions to UT football of many (through ticket sales, concessions, accessories, etc.) should outweigh the donations of the few.

We simply can't afford to let the program be run down any further.

It took Tom Osborne to fix Nebraska. We've got to have an AD of a similar caliber to recover. This guy cannot do it.

I've noted that I'd love to see him cleaning the new toilets 'he built.'

Ok, you got me. I misspelled a word. However, I was never taught the appropriate use of the three and four period puncuation. Is that something that only geniuses are allowed to use? Oh, I also see three question marks. That's odd.
