Lets Take a bye before the UF next year????

The last 7 years it hasn't bothered Florida when they played us. We need to stop making excuses and strap on the equipment and play the game no matter if Florida was the opening game or last. We'll have more Juniors and Sophmores next season an they and the coaching staff should have that date circled. A loss to Florida next year is unacceptable.

its not an excuse to want to play them later in the season..i think it would be better for both teams actually..think about the impact it would have on both teams if it was the last game of the year, i know it wont get moved but it would be nice to see those florida boys come up here and get some 30-40 degree weather and see how well they handle it. it would just gives ut a few more months of practice which is always a good thing going against florida.

I think since everybody who played Alabama last year has a bye week before they changed a rule or something so that you can't have a bye week before a conference game.

Or something.

Something about making sure that you couldn't do exactly what everybody did with the Alabama schedule or something.

I remember some TV personality talking about it or something.

Too early for a bye. Let's play another cupcake and skip the bye week period. Let the second string play and make some money for another home crowd.

Is Buffalo setting up to be a trap game? I was very surprised to see that Pittsburg was only leading Buffalo 14-10 late in the third quarter of their game earlier this year in Pittsburg. I know Pittsburg isn't a great team but neither are we. In addition Buffalo racked up 28 first downs. Their QB was 32/49 which is pretty good but they only averaged 5 yards per catch. Talk about a controlled passing game. We didn't contain the short pass very well agaist Florida but hopefully we will do much better agaist a far less talented team. We are not good enough to overlook anyone at this point though. GBO

Buffalo almost doubled Pittsburg in time of possession....

i would rather swap this game with either the vandy or kentucky game to give the team more time to gain experience throughout the season.

Besides the "not wanting to play UT and Fl St Back to back"...UF wouldn't want to play in cold weather every other year.

We should save the buy until sometime in October between playing Georgia, Alabama, LSU, and South Carolina.

You need at least one big game before your bye so you really know what to work on during the off week.

i know everyone's memory is short, but playing florida early this year was supposed to be an advantage for tennessee.

Stop it guys...you're better than this. You are the University of Tennessee, not Morehead St.

How about next time we just get our head out of our a** and play football? Sick of UT fans acting like Florida is the "insert your favorite NFL team here". We play them when we play them it doesn't matter if it's the 3rd game or the 8th game. It also doesn't matter if it's 90 degrees or 40 degrees, bye week before or bye week after. We both have advantages and disadvantages every year but our excuses seem to stay the same. Florida beats us every year because they have better players and more depth then we do and until we are able to close that gap it's not going to change. Everything else is a mute point

Eric, with all due respect, what happens if the schedule is shuffled and the results don't change? GLDunlap has it right. Just play the game. The schedule isn't the reason UT is having trouble with UF. It's a number/combination of reasons, but the schedule isn't one of them.

I really think this will work IMOjmo

The games they had this year were great lead ins to the UF game. They were challenged enough to help prepare them. Games expose alot more than an open week does. Open weeks are helpful for getting guys healthy more than anything else. One would ideally be around game 5 and the other around game 8/9.

The ONLY thing that would help UT with UF is something UF will never allow... move the game to November.

It is an excuse, and how does UF benefit from playing UT and FSU in consecutive weeks?

If there was a year UT had an advantage playing the game early, it was this year. Weather isn't a factor for either team, as it's been hot as hell in Knoxville the last three times we played there.

This thread is retarded...

A) IMO = In my opinion JMO = Just my opinion, you can't put them both together.. sounds like your special ed when you do...

B) Losing our best weapon, that our game plan was designed around on his first play does not mean our team is any worse then we thought.. In fact, mounting a decent comeback where we outscored FL by a nice margin means to me the rest of the team is in a better spot then I originally thought outside of our star players.

C) What time of the year we play florida has nothing to do with this streak they have going.. in that time period they have 2 NC's while we have had attrition, coaching woes and a very hard time in recruiting.

D) with the difference in recruiting between the two schools.. losing a star player and our RB being hurt.. and we still only lost by 10?

Florida should have beat us by a much larger margin under those circumstances, if I was a UF fan, I would be very worried about the rest of this season along with the next couple

sjt, please explain your logic. Are you implying that UT will be more seasoned and better prepared later in the year but UF wouldn't be? What some posters are implying here is UF somehow only beats UT because of what Saturday the game is played.

It helped in 2001

I would much rather play UF as we do now. Reason being is that we have a better chance of having all of or weapons playing and not having injuries. Playing later means more chances of us not having our best on the field. Also claiming that we would have more experience doesn't work either because UF will have more experience as well. Keep it as it is.

Why be worried about when you know there's 3-4 losses left on the schedule? You talk as if UF had championship expectations for 2011. 9-3 is about as good as it gets for us, yet it's still good enough to beat a UT squad some folks here had beating us by 3 TDs.

Check out the recruiting rankings...UF will be fine the next couple seasons. We aren't going anywhere.
