For may of us who has been fans of the vols for decades, it is hard when a coach is forced out who is doing their best, and their best isn't good enough. Especially one who has brought our program unprecedented success. His departure makes me sad although it needs to be done. I hope that we, the fans, get an opportunity to properly thank him for all that he has done. I always want Tennessee coaches to show good character and he has always done so. I wouldn't prostitute myself like Alabama and Arkansas has for all the championships in the world. We will rise again.

I think the 6 million buyout is enough thanks for an overrated coach like Fulmer.

I think the "overrated" comment goes very well with the "rhe" you were either too lazy to fix....or your education is just as "overrated".

Thank you.

lol...clearly that wasn't directed towards you. But please try to avoid poisoning this thread with the "overrated" or any other negative junk. There have been plenty and are plenty to do that on.

Leave it to the Fulmerites to now try to tell us not to celebrate now that Fulmer has FINALLY been ousted.

Fulmer was a great coaching fit at the right time at Tennessee. Now it is simply someone else's turn. I personally thank Phillip Fulmer for the greatness that he brought to Tennessee, and i will always take my hat off to you.

Am i happy that we will have a new coach? Absolutely

Am i happy that Fulmer has not performed well? Of course not.

This is truly a sad ending to what has been for the most part an exceptional coaching career. I would rather that he succeeded and been able to retire as a true celebration instead of a muted one like this will be. We should all have enough class to show some humanity and compassion to CPF and his family for what is a difficult time. Even if his lack of coaching ability caused it, we should still be sensitive.

Fulmer has done a lot for UT. He did a lot of great things while he was here, and I appreciate and respect him for it.

That said, I'm glad to see us going in a new direction.

Nothing says "humanity and compassion" like six million dollars.

Nothing says Tennessee football and the tens of millions of dollars brought into the University over the last 17 years like Phil Fulmer.

What do you think happened today? It needed to be done but don't kid yourself.

Nothing says seeing the handwriting on the wall like diminishing funds and support over the last 2 -3 years (maybe longer).

Of course it needed to be done. No argument there. I would rather him be wildly successful and we woudl be posting about what BCS bowl we would be in rather than having to find a coach.
