There are many games in a season.

Last year wasn't defined by giving up 30
to Bowling Green. It wasn't defined by only putting up 24 points against North Texas. It wasn't defined by a surprisingly close 27-24 win over a mediocre South Carolina team.
We can't base our success on one game.

We played an underrated App State team, and while we should have won by at least two touchdowns, sometimes things just don't go the way you plan.

I am still excited to see what our offense looks like if we open up the play book and decide to run more plays than Hurd up the middle. I am also excited to see how our defense looks against a team that actually passes the ball, so we can actually see what our pass rush is made of.

This is going to be a long season. I'm just happy that it's that time of year for us to talk about this stuff again.

I don't know about you guys but I'm relieved. There will certainly be some surprises this Saturday, and I am sure as hell happy it won't be us this week!

Let's see how Appy plays Miami in Boone. Then we'll have another major data point to judge how good they really are.

We need to analyze, some of us are close to getting our arm chair degree in Coaching... time to press on hard.

Remember the season opener in 98!

We almost lost to Syracuse, but we weren't playing football that even remotely resembled the product that we saw tonight.

Tonight was top 3 worst game I've seen us play. We looked like crap.

A 100 years from now it wont make a ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff a win is a win. but as a fan of 47 years and watched thousands of games this Tennessee team will not reach the top with our QB play anybody with any football IQ knows when it comes crunch time Doobs cant beat you his passing now he can beat you with his legs but his legs wont get us to Atlanta it will get us 8 and 4 he is a special person be he isn't a special QB like last year in the big games he could not throw the the ball when it counts i dont see nothing changing so 8 and 4 again and light up another over rated big 10 team in the bowl.

Remember the season opener in 98!

98 Syracuse had McNabb at QB and Freeney on defense, and several other future NFL veterans.

2016 App State, is not even close to the same caliber, but keep telling yourself that they do if it helps you sleep.

We do not have an SEC-caliber offensive staff. Mahoney would be coaching high school football, Debord would still be a college administrator, and Azzani would be selling used cars if it wasn't for Butch Jones.

This reminded me of the Air Force game. We killed a good Cal team then beat AF the next week by only one little point. We will be ready next week, and hopefully they will open the playbook a little more.

Regardless, as sh!tty as we played, I am happier with this result than I was with domination of OU and Florida and still taking the L.
