Let's Not Forget

When a "business" fails to compete and loses money... it can "stay the course" or it can make changes. Your argument fits if UT had decided to stay the course. They didn't. They fired the AD and fired the entire coaching staff. They've replaced significant numbers of people in the AD and football program. There IS a new direction. If you don't believe in that direction then by all means withhold your "heart". But your argument isn't reasonable.

Please Let Us Not Forget. last year was the worst season in Tennessee Football.

Yes, there is a lot of positive things going on this off season, but please let us not throw our hearts (money) at Tennessee without any results.

I know I know. that is easier said then done, how can you not fully support something you love (money and all), but I beg you fellow fans hold off until results are made. Tennessee, as unfortunate as it is, is just like any other business (money rules all). I am seeing this new slogan with Tennessee "We want a team you can be proud of" a team you can be proud to say this is "Your Team". Well guess what!!! Tennessee had the worst damn season of its entire history last year and I am not buying into this load a crap anymore. I am not proud to call Tennessee my team (yes I will give my all for Tennessee and yes I will always be a Tennessee fan, and yes I will say "Go Vols whenever I see someone wearing Tennessee clothes, but damn it I don't say it with pride.....how can I after getting stomped by Georgia in our own freaking house when we honored Peyton Manning who gave his all for Tennessee, who stayed an extra year to play at Tennessee when millions were waiting for him in the NFL, how can I say it Proudly when the people who run this school don't give a damn about how we do as long as money fill there pockets)

So please I beg you fellow fans, don't jump on the hype train, don't buy into the crap they are selling us until we get results. I am as encouraged as anyone that Tennessee may finally be back on the right track but, as the saying goes "fool me once.... fool me twice..... well I am not letting Tennessee fool me three times

It is time to Nut Up or Shut Up.....I am done leaving Neyland Stadium with my head hung low.

Let Us Not forget the crap we had to endure.

Its not over yet, by far. Every color commentator on every game will be giving a full recap of the coaching search and subsequent firings of just about everyone involved. Almost like the basketball games when Pearl was suspended. I dread it, has nothing to do with this years team of staff.

I was doing pretty good forgetting last season and getting my annual revving up for my Vols new season. I was doing pretty good believing in my Vols bettering their performance and thrilling me yet again. Yep, I was doing pretty good.

I flopped down in my easy chair and turned on channel 2
A bad slop slinging dude called New-Vol Fan was a-chasin' orange eating Sue
He trapped her in the old sawmill and said with an evil laugh
"If you forget the Vols last football season, I'll saw you all in half"

And then he grabbed her (And then?)
He tied her up (And then?)
He threw her on the railroad track (And then?)
A train started coming (And then? And then?)

And then along came Vols 2018
Tall, thin Vol 2018
Slow-walkin' Vols 2018
Slow-talkin' Vols 2018
Along came lonely, lanky Vols 2018
He freed Sue and whipped New-Vol Fan's arse.
And then?
And then?
And then?
That was the end of that.
So I went back to eagerly awaiting the 2018 season.
And then?
And then?
I forgot everything else including why I posted this.
And then?
Along came Vols 2018.

Apologies to Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller

Quite a bit here, so I'm gonna go all sjt mode for a minute.
Of course, that is why I am reminding you, because like everyone else I would rather forget the pain and hope for the best.
We're all quite aware of where we've been the last ten years
ll guess FREAKIN what that has screwed us over for the last 10 years.
I haven't been screwed over in any way. College football is entertainment plain and simple. It has no effect on my day to day life whatsoever. When people get that sports is much more enjoyable.
forgetting and hoping for better things to come is what has caused us to get into this mess in the first place. ohhh "next season is ours" the famous Tennessee quote the hasn't amount to a pile of crap.
Incompetent management is what has caused the current situation. It has nothing to do with fan support, or lack thereof
So yes I am glad I remind you, I hope I remind every Tennessee fan so we don't continue down this rabbit hole of make believe, and we actually finally do something. I mean I am pissed by gosh. this crap is embarrassing. forgetting about it aint gunna do nothing, fixing it will.
I can guarantee you that coming on a message board and asking people to not support the team will do nothing to fix anything. The fact that you let a group of kids playing a game embarrass you and piss you off is sad.

I'm not expecting the greatest season although (here's to hoping),but that didnt stop me from getting my belk kickoff tickets, my georgia tickets or my Kentucky tickets, as MBRO stated its entertainment and I'll support my team 15-0 or 0-12

To be honest, I can not imagine any real Tennessean listening to someone telling them who/who to support. Davy said it best. Something like "Ya'll can go to hell. I'm going to Texas!" .

OP, everyone of us gets your frustrations and disappointments of last year, that being said, we would never give up on any VOL team and those young men. What do you think any of them would think and read this? To a certain extent, they couldn’t

Sorry Tarheel, still figuring out new site control what we all
Saw last year (coaching, lack of development, etc), A lot of us older fans have lived through some bad years and have stuck with them, because we grew up as VOL fans, through thick and very thin years. I hope for you, that when, we all hopefully, see some good years, you will come to enjoy them because of the lean years.

Sorry Tarheel, still trying to figure out new site. Meant for OP. Guess I should have before posting.

I’m honestly going in to this season expecting 3-9.

Though my expectations are low I still want to give CJP a fair shot. I’ll go to some games and buy some merch.

Next year will decide if I continue to do so.

OP: please explain how not giving money to UT or buying tickets/merchandise is going to help our team compete for championships again. Do you want the new staff fired before they even coach a season? Do you think that kind of "fan" behavior will impress more highly-rated recruits? Do you think smaller crowds in Neyland will help the team concentrate?

While I understand your frustration, you have to back the team in any way you can whether that be tickets, donations, etc. Fans and boosters as well are part of the solution. The team needs us.

When the going gets tough, the tough get going!
