Let's knock off the criticism

I realize that everyone who is a Vols fan is disappointed in the program over the last decade and have BVS, we have been disrespected by the sports media for far too long, and the last coaching search was a debacle, to say the least. We have people posting on here who call the players bad names and talk about how bad they are, wanting a coaching change after the first two games of the season, making disparaging remarks about the coaches. We as fans need to understand what kind of affect we can have on the program, both good and bad. When the players are called something like liquid garbage, like I saw in a post this morning, that is totally uncalled for. Support our guys, make encouraging posts, and let the recruits know we support them and want them instead of making remarks that may change their minds about coming to Tennessee. When a player is singled out and repeatedly criticized, a highly rated recruit who plays that position and is strongly considering Tennessee may chose to go somewhere else, so they don't have to endure that type of ridicule. So what say we knock off the negativism toward the players and coaches and support the team. And yes, I am disappointed in the way the season has gone so far, but I'm not going to be making any of the comments I have seen on here from some posters. Let's get behind the team instead of being so critical all the time. It seems like Fulmer said during the introductory press conference for Pruitt that it would take 4-5 years to get it turned around, yet here we are with people calling for Pruitt's head after fifteen games.
I made an almost identical argument when Fulmer then Dooley were the coach. I was wrong and so are you.

The over the top, emotional, personal stuff... agree completely. Calling for Pruitt's head after 14 games... I think that's too much even with a couple of bad losses.

Respectful and even strong criticism... could not disagree more. Recruits see the flaws. Opposing recruiters definitely see them. There are very few serious programs that don't have the same thing. Our criticisms of JG or an OL coach or a WR or an OL... aren't something that just we here notice. We aren't exposing issues that are top secret. In fact, an opposing recruiter if they thought it would help them would sit with a WR and break down on REAL game tape JG's failures finding open receivers or an OL's failure to execute a block correctly.

If Fulmer tries to give Pruitt 4 or 5 years before he shows he can win... both will be fired. You are concerned about recruiting. Well a real concern is a coach whose ability to win can legitimately be questioned after 3 years. Jones won more early than Pruitt. But he left wins on the field.... too many BYU like games. Recruiting in his last 2 years dropped off pretty significantly both in rankings and ability to get players other programs really wanted. If UT cannot make a strong case backed up by wins that they're headed in the right direction after 3 years... there has to be a change. Every day after that your program is likely to be in regression.

VolNation without the hate would completely obliterate my ignore list
Let's set up it so that every time a thread is read, every member gets a like
Set up a filter where all angry words are mapped to love words
Change the format of VolNation to be rainbows and unicorns
We could even get Freak to make available some unicorn emojis, maybe add an optional feature where soothing Enya music will play for you whilst you read the cuddly replies and look at your likes.

These are two different issues. I think every vol fan is behind the team and wants Pruitt to succeed.

At the same time losing to vastly inferior opponents will always be criticized and should never be acceptable.

Blaming the TN fan base seems to be the thing now. I've seen more of it this year than ever before. The only thing I can say to any players or coaches with hurt feelings is, stop wasting time reading this message board and go to the weight room or practice field!

I have not called anyone names, but the facts over the past 10 years speak for themselves. 4 coaches since Fulmer and where is the improvement in the program??? Tell me where the program has improved!!!!!!

I'd rather fans complain here than directly at players on social media or on call-in shows like Finebaum

Op I agree but unfortunately we have some low class people that post very negative attacks because I guess that's how they were raised. I come after the losers because in the end they just do the devils bidding. A miserable lot they are. I expect they stink when you get around them. Go Vols...no matter what.

I expected I would get some responses like this. Thanks for proving it.
The good news is there is a couple more just like you out there, blame the fans. The only thing you proved is , trying to lecture and bringing the fan base together was a failure.

IF Vol fans are the reason why we have such a poor team (1-2 against glorified HS teams), because we don't support sub-par play, or coaching, then a logical conclusion is, we are the reason for any wins the team has or will have. In fact If we win one more game this season (doubtful), the fans should be congratulated-it will be their victory and theirs alone. I'm sure the sunshine pumping machine will find a way to spin it, but if we are the reason then we are the reason, W or L.

Positive or negative, everyone has opinions. We're not all going to share the same one so asking for that is absurd. Not all of us are out for Pruitt's head, but those that are have a right to that opinion. I don't have to agree with them, and they don't have to agree with me. That's called life. If you can't handle it on a message board, I'm not sure how you deal with it in reality.

Well said big orange pappa

How do you know we're not? How do you know some of us aren't the very best at what we do with results to prove it?
Never implied anyone isn’t. Just keeping it fair. But if that is the case what do you do so if I need you I can use you? LOL

May have some players family members, and coaches spouses coming in here with hurt feelings as well...............
