for what it is. there will be time during the entire off season to debate and discuss the future and the staff etc....

and there will be plenty to look at from this game. far from perfect, but just like last week.........don't tell me how you get there.........Just Get There.

Seeing as how it is college football and college students playing the games......i think this game should be and will be remembered as how a team never gave up. a team that made plays when it had to. a team that got contributions from so many different people, it exemplifies the word "team".

I went thru a two hour coronary yesterday afternoon, during which i cursed the souls of all the coaches, the fans, my wife, you name it.........i'm sure many of you were right there with me. but at the end of the day.......all grins.

But after the game as several of the players were walkikng off the field they all said the same thing...."we're just happy". everyone was smiling. everyone proud. everyone celebrating.

that's how i want this to be remembered. and when you really think about it, what this team has done the past 4 weeks has been remarkable. they've basically been in a single elimination playoff. win and advance, and they've done that.

so i contend that this should be about the players that simply didn't give up on a game when it seemed that it was over (think about the plays made in the 4th and in the OT's......it really is quite something they saved it that many times), and moreover, they didn't give up on a season when it seemed they had nothing left to play for after the Bama game. And why do you credit the players? because they bought in to what the coaches told them all season long. in the past few years we've seen more talented teams quit on games and seasons. but not this one. and not these coaches. i'm not back on the CPF bandwaggon (there was a reason why i was going thru that coronary afterall) but you have to give him credit. in a season that has been so up and down, he's finished on top, and at the end of the day, as many of say.....you are what your record says you are.

and ours says SEC East Division Winners.

i know it's cliche to talk about it, but it applies here. resiliancy. they have it. and i'm glad for it.

so as i sit here on Sunday morning after a hell of a Saturday afternoon, i sit here with a smile on my face, and making arrangements for an SEC title game party at the house!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations to the 2007 Tennessee Volunteers.

Go Vols!!!! Beat LSU!!!!

Yeah you can say what you want about this team's talent, but by God they have heart and sometimes that's all it takes.

It was never pretty. But it has rarely been that way. Gotta give them some credit, coaches and players for making it this far. Now lets go repay LSU for last year and 2001.

Um, I don't know man. Are you talking about the same team I watched yesterday? Looked to me like they gave up as soon as the ball was kicked off in the second half. I saw a team that didn't do a damn thing productive until it found itself so deep in it that they had no option but to kick it in and try to recover what they had just thrown away during the second half. Smile all you want. I'm still disgusted with yesterdays performance. If the VOLS would play like a team with vision, aggression, violence of action, and hunger for a full 60 minutes, they wouldn't end up in 4OT's against freakin' Kentucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't get me wrong. I'm very excited that we won and I'll be in Atlanta this Saturday cheering on the VOLS!! Be that as it may, I don't have to be, nor am I, happy over the way we've been playing. Especially our second half performance!! I think it stinks!! Are we winning? Yes. Are we kicking butt? Far from it. I just refuse to do on this board, what CPF does on the field every time something goes wrong or something gets botched. I'm not going to stand on the sideline and clap and smile. I'm going to yell and grab someone's face mask!

PS: GO VOLS!

What happened saturday had nothing to do with giving up. The staff decided with a big lead to lay back, not give up the huge play and sacrifice yardage for time off the clock. If not for a couple of drops, UT picks up a few more first downs, burns a ton of clock, probably scores again and UT wins handily. The strategy would have worked to perfection had the players executed on third down.

If I could use just one word to describe this year's edition of the football Vols, it would indeed be HEART!

I hope that we can catch LSU in a down mode and return the "favor" from 2001.

Way to go VOLS!

I truly don't understand the bashing of the coaches right now. I've been a solid proponent of Fulmer stepping down if we don't win the SEC title this year.

Well, we're about to. If someone said to me, "Where would you want Tennessee to be on November 26th?" I'd say, "Preparing for the SECCG." And here we are. I think everyone who wanted Fulmer gone said if he won the SEC, they'd be happy with that. Well, here we are.

On December 2nd, have at it if we lose. I know I will. But today, we are where we need to be.

And keep in mind that this season has been like any other. So many upsets, every team looks average at times. It doesn't matter how you got to the dance, you just need to get there, and then win it.
