And so he talked highly bout Trooper, the kid loved Trooper big deal, who was he supposed to love, Kiffin or Dooley he only knew them for a few months. The kid played through adversity here, a adversity he didnt feel when trooper was here, so do we blame him for saying something even if he did?

OP, I'm kinda with you on this. I'm not ready to crucify a kid that told the truth about one of his favorite coaches from the past. I think Hat and company are making too big of a deal out of this.

recruited him for a year and a half then played under him for 1, so 2 and 1/2

Whether its true or not...Something obviously happened....GJ's dumb ass got his school paid for....played for a D1 SEC School....got his surgery paid for....and started for 3 years....So why would he even think about anything other than Tennessee...Who gives a flip if Taylor's one of his favorite coaches....He is at Auburn now...and Gerald Jones was at Tennessee...End of story

I find it comical that so many seem to know an awful lot about what TT said to GJ and what GJ said to a recruit...

educate yourself before you pop off.....read the threads about this......one of the CURRENT Vols is the one calling GJ out on this.....he was in the loop for the Trooper love fest

Why would Trooper Taylor have Gabe Wright call Gerald Jones......unless he thought it would help get him to AU. He certainly wouldn't have him call Gerald Jones if he thought it would sway Wright to UT.

Not sure what this has to do with my statement but I'll give it a shot...

Assuming it happened my guess would be trooper figured GJ would tell Gabe what a great guy trooper is and he's not the total deuche bag he's known to be..

All yall are calling for a kids head who has forgot about more crap then most of yall have ever went through. and Im not just talkin football here at UT Im talking home life. Ban a kid from pro day? are you serious a kid that went through four years here and gave his all.and now yall are trying to spurn him like we did Kiffin or Bryce Brown, how could you possibly do that? he was here for 4 years living his life and now we want to call him a bad person and terrible person, not a vol for life...give me a break that is completely childish

I respect Jones for all he did here and he has my appreciation, cause a kid who coulda had nothing goin for his life actually did something with it and made something of his life, he got a degree.

Give me a break and for some of you guys it time to grow up

I don't know what Jones said or didn't say and will reserve judgement accordingly. A lot of folks on this board apparently enjoy bashing players/coaches that represent our University and don't need anything like the facts to slow them down. I applaud your position although it appears we are in the minority--at least with those that are posting. For the rest of you looking to pick a fight with Jones or anyone that doesn't agree with your he's "garbage" venom, I have one word: FIDO--Forget it and drive on. Let's enjoy the good class we got and not go looking for problems.

But Jones is a Vol, Auburn's biggest competition for Wright.

Wouldn't it have been a lot less dangerous to have Wright call one of Trooper's former players at Okie State?

Trooper would be crazy to connect Wright with Jones...unless, of course, he felt confident that Jones would help his cause.
