Lets give CLK and this staff some credit!

I liked Fulmer and I am a little bit bitter about the way he was treated by fans. He made Tennessee. He's the reason we have high expectations. It was time for him to go, but no need to run his name in the mud.

I'm just giving the blind Kiffin supporters some crap. We got out-coached in that game. I am confident that he will improve and that we will have a winning season.

If CLK starts Stephens..we are back at square one..By the way..How did Stephens do last year..Crompton won the starting job..Let him play. The team didn't help him much last game.

Like I said..Fulmerites are not going to accept Kiffin. They want to see him fail..I for one don't like it. The team is what counts. This only hurts the team, all because your feelings were hurt..Good choice..A true fan.

Square one would be better than where we were on Saturday.

Give me the logic in that kiffinator. Tell me why that would be better. Stephens hasn't shown anything.

That's just your opinion, like mine is my opinion..I trust Kiffin to know more that you (kiffinator) and I.. He is the coach.

Who are you talking to? I am the only one here backing Fulmer, and I just said it was his time to go and that I support Kiffin.

I want us to win as much as anyone. I didn't even want to leave my house on Saturday after that game, I was so upset. I don't care who the coach is, the team comes first. That's why I'm critical of Kiffin. Boy needs to step it up.

I hear you baker. We all, Kiffin, Fulmer supporters needs to back the team. They deserve it.

My point is Crompton sucks. You can work around that. Especially since most of the teams we play have inept QB's. I hope Kiffin does better. I like Kiffin, and I'll support him against rival fans, but "giving him credit" right now when we'd be crucifying Fulmer if he lost that game is just asenine. I don't want Fulmer back. I'm using it as an example of how foolish this is.

I don't think we crucified Fulmer for just last year, try the last decade. The point is this is a process, its going to take a few years. You can't truly evaluate this staff until they get their own recruits in here to run their system. As of right now they seem to be getting the guys they want and need having a top 5 recruiting class. So I am extremely impressed with this staff, I don't think they asked Crompton to do to much, most high schoolers can make those throws. Our running game is drastically improved, and let's be honest our offensive lineman are just not that good, Fulmer left the cupboard pretty bare. Just remember guys, this is not a 1 year plan. Go Vols!

Why not back Crompton, too? A lot of people are killing the kid. He is what he is. He's 22. He makes mistakes. He makes more mistakes than most, but we HAVE to coach around him.

So it's OK to criticize a kid, but it's "not backing the team" to criticize a millionaire who talked a good one all off-season and got embarrassed in his first true test.

There was Tennessee football way before Phillip Fulmer, try the man the stadiums after as for who made Tennessee.

Why do we crucify anyone? The past is the past. Let's all get together and show the team we support them, no matter who the coach is. When they hear all this stuff, it has to affect them. They are what matters. Right now to support the team, we have to support the coach. Just like we did Coach Fulmer.

I just meant in recent history. Fulmer had 2 seasons with 7 or fewer wins. In the 80's we had 5 seasons with 7 or fewer wins. Obviously we have a long, strong tradition. Fulmer brought it back.

I am backing Crompton baker, as well as his coach who thinks he's the best to guide the team..We agree on that.

You're absolutly right, the team comes first! We all love TN football or we wouldnt be here! I just dont think its right to say CLK needs to step it up when he is entering his 3rd game. You have to give him time! I'm criticizing Fulmer over the past 5 years +. He damn near ran this program in the ground. Two losing seasons in 4 years, expecting recruits to come here vs going out there and making sure we get the best that is out there. Fulmer was satisfied with one National Title IMO. After that he was satisfied with metioker bowl games and 8 win seasons. That may sit well with the Fulmer lovers but not me, I want to compete for National Titles every year!!

As do I when I noted that Kiffin will do the right thing. I support Lane Kiffin as much as anybody here. But it is ludicrous to try to make an argument that Saturday's version of Crompton gives a chance to finish .500. If Lane can get him to play somewhat adequately, then stay with him. If he can't, which I would wager is much more likely, I think we should go with Stephens. And I trust that Kiffin knows when to do this. So, maybe you are misinterpreting what I am saying. Not being a blind Crapton backer doesn't mean that I'm not 100% behind this staff.

I understand kiffinator..My point, not so well made I guess, is I support Kiffin's decision. Whoever he puts at QB, I will support..He should know. He has seen some pretty good QB's, not to say we have any in that category, but he should have the knowledge to know who is the best we have. So we agree!

Yeah in 16 years Fulmer lost twice to mid-majors. Wyoming was after he was "fired". It only took 2 games for Kiffin to get embarrassed.

I really don't see the logic in this comment. Over the past decade we lost to a lot of teams that we should have destroyed. It doesn't matter if the teams were mid-majors; we've had teams that were stacked with players that had NFL talent, only to lose to inferior teams. Saturday, as hard as it is to admit, we lost a close game to a team that is very close to ours talentwise.

Baker, Didn't Coach Kiffin say in so many words that it was his fault we lost. Give him credit. You gotta like a coach who takes care of his players. We should do the same. What does it help to call names. That was only the second game. Look at other SEC first year coach's records..You may be surprised.

Wasn't Meyers 6 and 6, Saban 6 and 6 their first year? What if Kiffin does better? Crompton for that matter. Would anyone call him Crapton after that?

Fulmers Bowl record in the last 10 years, not the resume of a top college coach...

1999- lost to Nebraska
2000- lost to Kansas St.
2001- beat Michigan
2002- lost to Maryland
2003- lost to Clemson
2004- beat Texas A&M
2005- 5-6 no bowl game
2006- lost to Penn State
2007- beat Wisconsin
2008- 5-7 no bowl game

Correct. If Kiffin continues to start Crapton, I will support the decision even if I disagree because I trust this staff.
