Let's Get Real

Iowa has had trouble with mobile QB's this year. I am not all that concerned about Iowas run game. Tennessee has done decent against the run this year. Smart money is to look at Tennessee's last 3 games on defense. Vandy made a living throwing to the TE over the middle because J. Johnson had trouble adjusting to that. If I am Iowa I throw tons of passes to this area. If Tennessee doesn't give up big passing plays then the Vols win, it's that simple.

I wish it was that simple.....

LOTS of ways come to mind how UT can lose this game;

- Oline plays like a complete sieve.
- Turnovers
- Dobbs struggles terribly with accuracy as we can't abandon the pass and still win like against Vandy
- Iowa's big RB runs it down our throat with AJ out

I just think the SECw teams bought into the hype and did not prepare for those bowl games like they should have.. with a chip on your shoulder, wanting to kill the other team.

They thought they would walk in and win the Bowl games just because they were SEC..

JMO...

I also think Kiffin was an idiot for going away from a RB averaging 8 million YPC.. and start his predictable.. pass pass pass pass pass pass...

If Bama would have played Bama football of shoved it down OSU's throat.. controlled the clock and wore down their defense by beating them snap after snap after snap for 5-6 a play.. Bama would have won that game easily.

But the Kiffin curse took them down.

Glad they lost.

Meh, Iowa is a decent football team. We can be a good football team but have injuries and are pretty inconsistent. I think Iowa is probably the safer bet in this game. That said the last game I saw us play was against Vandy and I have to believe a better team shows up than was in that game.

One difference is we are running mark weisman at you. The other B1G teams are running high draft picks out there.

Iowa's physicality will be something to see if ut can handle.

No disrespect, but I think after bama, Georgia, and such Tennessee is used to playing teams with physicality.

The hatred for Kiffin is understandable, I suppose, but the run-v-pass was 34-36 with 11 of those pass attempts coming in the last 3 minutes after they were down by 14. Before those last two series, the run plays were pushing 60% of Kiffin's calls.

At one point in the second half, I believe, there was a graphic showing that Bama was getting 3 or so ypc.

Bama's problem was a defense that gave up 42 points.

Perhaps they would not have given up that many points if Bama offense ran the ball more and spent more time on the field than their defense. At least that's what Bama used to do few years ago when they were really dominant. However having said this I would not blame Kiffin for this - it's Sabans job to set the tone on how aggressive he want's Kiffin to call the game.
