Can't be worse than the no name now!!!!

Gus Mahlzan was a high school coach in Arkansas...so was Hugh Freeze

2 big differences in these guys and Dooley. First, they both won a lot of games somewhere, they know how to win, Freeze's Arkansas State was great last year. Second they were both highly successful coordinators, at least they had one side of the ball they specialized in, Dooley wasn't. Dooley's a nice guy but he doesn't know how to win at this level, he's in over his head.

sure is easy to spend other people's money, isnt it

Not at all but it can be argued (very well IMO) that keeping Dooley will cost the UTAD more money than the buyout would. So is it easier to say some are trying to spend other people's money or to be ok with the program losing it's ass in revenue by keeping Dooley around?

Tennessee Football is getting better and until that stops being the case we need to stick with Derek Dooley, regardless of how impatient we are.

Until we're winning in the SEC, it isn't improving.

1-10 in the SEC since 2011. This isn't "getting better."

This is a results-driven program, or it used to be anyway before we started hiring folks whose resumes were based on DNA rather than results.

Since Dooley has been here:

Arkansas-Were night and day better after hiring Petrino
Miss State-Program is clearly better since Mullen took over
Ole Miss-Freeze has them playing hard and competing and look like a more competent team than we do already
A&M-Amazing how solid they look just half a season in with a first year coach
Florida-Muschamp has had one less year than Dooley and has produced 10x more
Vandy-Hate the man as much as anyone but James Franklin has had an impact there and is more competent than Dooley.

These are programs, save for Florida, we should consistently be better than and because we accepted mediocrity with this hire by our administration, we are now left to pick up the ashes while these programs have seen their programs be elevated in recent times due to solid hires.

Make the right move Hart. Fire Dooley and do it soon!

Those who set their expectations low and those who set them high will usually meet them.

UT will open the checkbook, guaranteed.

I understand that some fans love their school so much that they cant see reality, but this guy is not one of them.

Is Dooley doing a great job? No, hes not. Are things taking longer to develope than I would like? Yes, they are. But I also know another fact. The title, "Head Coach of the University of Tennessee" doesnt carry enough weight to attract the huge coaching names Vol fans want Dooley replaced with.

How do I know this? Because ive already seen this movie play out twice and it resulted in Tennessee playing 15 freshman a game and losing games by 30. We play in the SEC, other school love to see coaching changes so they can use its against the school in recruiting.

Tennessee Football is getting better and until that stops being the case we need to stick with Derek Dooley, regardless of how impatient we are.

I can't believe that people like you still exist after last night. It's like you guys don't even watch the games, you just sit around waiting to tell us how much you love Precious

Idea, how about all you Dooley fans go root for Alabama, because you obviously aren't fans of UT football if you want Dooley to stay.

They lost to Mississippi State, how is that a sign of improvement? I thought the defense that Tennessee fielded in Berkeley and Gainesville in 2007 was the worst I would ever see, I was wrong.

In regards to the 2007 comment i've been thinking the same thing, but this is the worst defense i can really remember as a vols fan.

Anyone that wants Dooley to stay is Alabama fan. Anyone who thinks or says we are getting better is an idiot and an Alabama fan. Anyone who says we can't hire a better coach than Dooley is a mommies boy, an idiot and an Alabama fan.

Unfortunately UT needs a change for change sake. Recruiting is taking a beating and that is what fuels a Program. Winning or a coaching change is needed to get people excited. Bottom line.......the ship is not turning and Peyton Manning is not walking through that door.

Last year we got absolutely creamed by all ranked opponents. This year we have had the opportunity to win every single one of our games in the second half.

How is this not a sign of development?

lets get this straight, Dooley has lost every ranked game (0-13) that has been thrown his way. Don't try to gerge it up.

Nonsense. We should sign Dooley to an extension because he was nice enough to take a job nobody wanted. And the man has heart. Did you see him coach only days after hip surgery? That's the kind of toughness this team needs. He just needs more time to implement an obvious 5-7 year plan...because if it's intricate details completely devoid of flaws.

That "12-name" list is a myth. We talked to some people-- Muschamp included-- to gauge their interest and for different reasons that had little to do with UT, it wasn't the right move for them AT THAT TIME. Two weeks before NSD, they were a little too preoccupied with their current job to talk about a future one. We could have named an interim and revisited the issue at a more realistic time. But Cutcliffe tweaked Hammy's nose with a dealbreaker demand to briing his assistants, so Hammy responded like a spurned teenage girl and hired Dooley ASAP to show Cutcliffe how little he cared.

And Kiffin was our choice. The search firm presented Hammy with a shortlist of three prospects, and Hammy wanted Kiffin. He was blinded by the NFL and USC pedigree... just like he was binded by Dooley's SEC lineage and Saban pedigree. Poor decisionmaking has gotten us to this point and refusing to admit and correct our mistakes will just perpetuate their unfortunate outcome.

Yep, I figure if they can tell me to root for Alabama because I don't like him, I can tell them the same for support the piece of garbage that is running the football team.
