There is plenty more to watch the Vols than just making the playoffs. Seeing you are a real hardened fan, have you quit watching for 20 seasons as soon as the Vols obviously weren’t going to be playing in the NC game. I guess you never watched a bowl game since 1998. If fans only watch until they think Tenn will not be in the running to play for a NC I don’t get it. They are still fun for me. And I don’t think they win out.I don't believe even if I am a good boy that my wife will pick up Chick-Fil-A on the way home today, so much would have to happen and fall in place for her to drop off the kids at their sports tonigh.Leftovers or a quick bowl of cereal is best we can hope for, just being realistic.
Why even watch if you are going to be that negative? If you have resigned us to not being in the playoff, then its pointless for you to even be here.
GT still has to play Georgia. Now if GT beats GA ok they are in even with a loss to Virginia. Chances are tho GA wins and if Virginia beats GT that’s 2 losses. GT still has to play a 5-2 Pitt team that is no pushover. And Virginia still has to play a 5-2 WF team that just beat SMU and at Duke. What if GT and UVA both win out and UVA beats GT in ACC championship? They both will have 1 loss and be ranked over UT. If Miami also wins out that will leave all three with just 1 loss. UT's chances depend on what happens in the ACC, because GT, UVA, and Miami don't play each other. ACC could get 3 teams in. Not likely to happen but every game here on out is a playoff game for a lot of teams.
If we win out, then it will come out in the wash. There are still a lot of games to be played and upsets to shake up the order.
I think this year we will see 5 SEC teams, 3 B1G, 1 Big XII, 1 ACC, ND's charity spot, and 1 Go5.
Sankey has done everything to make sure the SEC gets as many spots as possible, and he has ESPN backing him up.
I think the 5 SEC teams will be the following:
1. Texas aTm
2. Bama
3. Georgia
4. Ole Miss
5. Tennessee, Vandy, Texas, or potentially OU depending on how it shakes out.
For the B1G
1. Indiana
2. Ohio State
3. Oregon
ND
Big XII Champ
ACC Champ, though I think there is a risk that two ACC teams could sleepwalk into this mess and cut the 5th spot from the SEC.
They are all fun for me also,I watch every game the Vols play and I will surely watch the Bowl game that the Vols will play!!Im not a negative fan at all but I think it would be unrealistic to thing we make the playoffs,so very much would have to happen but Im praying we get in!!There is plenty more to watch the Vols than just making the playoffs. Its simple really....Will the committee give an average ACC conference an extra bid. We already know what we get from the other two power conferences. Penn State imploding secured an extra bid for the ACC / SEC. I might be biased but not taking a 10-2 SEC team is criminal. Best case scenario is...Tennessee and Vandy both win out. Gameday sets up in Knoxville and you have all that hype and national media billing this as a play in game. Winner likely gets drilled in Tuscaloosa or Oxford in round one but at least I get another UT playoff t-shirtI don't believe even if we win out I don't think we get in the playoffs, so much would have to happen and fall in place for Tennessee.Citrus or Outback Bowl is best we can hope for, just being realistic.
