Let's face it

It won't take a miracle by any means to win this game. What I'd like to see- in contrast to previous games - is mistake-free football. I don't think that's an unreasonable ask.

Exactly, multiple careless errors have made our football games closer than needed

It's amazing to see how the fan base has changed over the past four years. When we played Oregon in 2013, the defeat was all but inevitable. It was like watching the train wreck you knew would happen. Beating Alabama was a pipe dream. We thought we had no chance against UGA, USCe and Florida.

Now?

Sure, there's some holdouts, but by and large, we expect to go into College Station and compete even as dinged up as the team is. There's a grudge match coming in Neyland next week against Bama. And by and large, the rest of the schedule looks to be a cakewalk after the bye week resulting in a 10-2 record at worst and staring at the SEC CG for the first time in nearly a decade. Our fans expect this team to do great things and continue competing and winning against foes that were accepted defeats just four years ago.

Yep , winning is exactly what we expect in return for our loyalty and support. VN is very tired of losing and following the program closely will help keep it on the trajectory its on right now. Surely we've learned the lessons of the past ten years. Expect to win every game.

I like our chances on the road. Dating back to last year's loss at Bama, we are 5-1 on the road (2 were neutral, but still....).

Please there has been no "smoke and mirrors" - just 11 players out there giving their ALL on every play to stop the other team's offense. The players that are hurt are still supporting the team and encouraging them why can't you?

Who said I'm not " supporting the team"? All I did was state an opinion. I thought that's what this board was all about. Man, some of you need to grow up.

Suggesting "smoke and mirrors" shows that you haven't even been watching the games or that you don't know anything about the game.

If starting a slow, walk-on middle LB and a true freshman corner is not " smoke and mirrors" I'm not sure what is. I love UT but come back to me after the game tomorrow and tell me Jumper didn't get burned several times. I hope we win and think we would if we were full strength. I just think it's expecting a lot to beat really good teams with 3 of our best 4 defensive players on the bench. Just my opinion. Go Vols.

Beating Texas A&M on the road would be a monumental upset without 4 of our best players ( Hurd, Maybin, Sutton and Kirkland). With 3 of our best 4 defensive players out we have been using smoke and mirrors the past 2 weeks to win and Eventually teams are going to pick on Jumpers lack of athleticism and attack the middle of the field. I hope I'm wrong but I just don't have a good feeling about this weeks game without these 4 players.

Then prepare for a monumental upset, my friend!

Jumper has been playing good ball. Especially against Florida. We have depth behind our starters now. We will be fine. As long as we clean up the mistakes, and play 60 mins of tough, smart football we'll be okay. I believe if this team plays like it's capable of playing we can beat any team n the country!

The offense is going to need to score a ton of points for the Vols to win this one..... I'm talking 40+..... that's what my gut tells me.....

Kirkland, Sutton and Reeves-Maybin are all SEC first team caliber players. Guys like this don't go down without the team experiencing a huge drop off

Not really expecting us to win.

I feel like this would be the biggest upset ever for a 9th ranked team could get over an 8th ranked team.

Jumper has improved but seriously , he wouldn't start for any other SEC team including Vandy. And unfortunately we have no depth at LB, that's why we are starting a former walk- on

Next man up. Good thing is they won't have enough game film on Jelly to gamplan for him when he gets into the game. Fils-Aime may get some PT too. I love Hurd and he will be missed this game but RB is the one position we have incredible depth in and is the one position we could afford an injury to. I'm sure the coaching staff has a lot of confidence in Kamara and Jelly to get the job done.

And for all you guys that are worried of Garrett, he is not very good at stopping the run as his total tackles stats will show. I think we should be able to keep him in check. He may get one sack but that will be it. I'm not too worried about our offense scoring on their "vaunted" defense but I am a little worried about limiting their offensive skill players. They have some talented wide receivers that have killer speed. That's what concerns me the most.

The "best players" on every team are the QB, all 5 starters on the OL, and the DL. We are 100% healthy on that front.

Of course JRM, Kirkland, Sutton, and Hurd are hugely important. They are. But if we were missing our top 2 OL and top 2 DL, we would be in much bigger trouble than we are right now.

I just don't see how this team is that much better than UGA or Florida. Let's just tee the ball up and start popping pads. I saw a Tennessee team win with the same people out except Hurd. I feel we have a great chance Saturday and I don't see a reason to back off of that.

We are not the team from the Dooley days. We have talent, depth and experienced veterans...

Go Vols!
