Let's be honest

The problem with playing kids who are slacking off just don’t want to be here is that it reinforces that culture. Practice sucks, early morning workouts suck, doing hours of film study sucks, being so so tired from all that so you can’t go out with your friends sucks. If I see people slacking off, not putting in the extra time and effort, and still get playing time, then why would I keep busting my butt? It’s not like there is anyone better behind me and it has been made clear that the best guy starts, not the guy who works the hardest Sun-Fri.

This is a culture issue. Winners don’t want to join that type of culture. Iron sharpens iron. If I’m a top talent then I want to be around people who will push me, have the same goals as me. I want my hard work to be rewarded and if I slack off I need there to be repercussions.
I agree, and what I meant by I'm undecided, is although I agree I don't understand how it could be as bad as our season was. I believe there is some truth in Pruitt should have gotten more out of them than he did.

I think the situation is probably a lot worse than some think, but Pruitt should have done at least a little better.

And ftr, I have zero issue with the whole "I need better players" or whatever his exact words were, comment.

I would say absolutely huge year coming up next season. Another losing season and I think a majority of fans will have a very negative view of Pruitt. I will be of the opinion that he is not going to win here. Two years in a system and most of the players returning in the two deep should mean progress. So although he shouldn't be judged now another bad season with the returnees that we have certainly afford that we can view how effectively he is moving this program forward.
Fulmer will likely be patient with JP to an extent if we still can’t get over the hump in 2019 (5-7 or 6-6). But there HAS to be major progress by the end of 2020 or imho he will get his walking papers. The fans will pressure Fulmer to make up his mind at that point...

Does anyone know (without me having to do any work ha) how many times over the last say 20 years, we have NOT finished in the top 20 in recruiting?

If we go 5-7 or 6-6 in 2019 Pruitt needs to go. If Fulmer can't see that, he needs to go as well.

All I know is this: it was kind of cool one morning and hanging in my closet was a Columbia fleece with a big Power T on the front that would have felt perfect given the conditions. I looked at it and said...I’m not wearing that.

I went cold that morning, all because my Vols couldn’t finish off a sorry ass South Carolina team.

I like him alot. He's a football guy, not some politically correct, catch phrase spewer. He is himself and says what he thinks weather we like it or not. I want us to win now just as much as any of us, but it's just take time... I think we saw glimpses in a few games this year, but the talent and depth just isn't there.
Is the "hes a football guy" the new "Butch gets it?"

Just curious

Sept 21st 2019 the biggest game of the new season. Another whipping by the Gators and its a short season amigos. A great game to gauge JG improvement.27EC4A7E-8A9C-43E1-A82F-70E0F954D393.gif

He is the opposite of the previous two guys. A teacher. I would imagine he is not very likable. I would not want to have beer with him. But he was hired to be a football coach and that is what he is. I also think we need stability at the HC position. So as long as he can get us bowl eligible next year and 2020 (barring some catastrophic injuries) is 8-9 win season, that is just what the Dr. ordered. Look at KY, Mizzou, and Vandy. They have had stability, time to plant seeds and now they have reaped the fruits of "staying the course". Now will CJP ever be elite, odds say probably not. There just isnt many Dabos, Urbans, Petersons walking around out there. But we need stability, even if it only means going 8-4 for a while.

No, just saying his biggest concern is football, not spinning it this way or that way based on preception. He seemed annoyed at press conferences and I assume it's because he rather be coaching and teaching football...

Currie led us to believe he would break the bank to get an elite guy.

Instead, we find out he only went after Schiano.

That leaves a foul taste in your mouth. Sucks for Pruitt. I have to say though so far I like him.
It looks like Greg Schiano couldn't have done any worse:rolleyes:

Let’s face it... we will never be the Tennessee of the 90’s we mite have a decent 8-10 wins every so often. But I don’t see us competing for natys.

We are not hiring a better coach so either live with this until 2021 or stop watching. Took us a month just to hire this guy because no one else even considered us. Fire Pruitt and lose Harrison Bailey which is the last glimmer of hope I have for the program.

You people that put these threads together like this DISGUST me. Pruitt is an excellent coach. He will be very successful here. You don't have a clue as to what it takes to be a good coach. Your stupid attendance stats above are, well STUPID!! You have no clue of how good the SEC is. You have no clue how good Missouri is. They are the 3rd or 4th best team in the SEC. You take away the two turnovers, the game would have been close. Tennessee probably would have lost, but it would have been a close game.

I've looked at a thread this morning where some egotistical elitist is concerned about Pruitt's use of words. I'm sure that guy has perfect English, and probably never had dirt on him his whole life.

I've looked at a thread this morning where one of you was trying to make a big deal out of Pruitt missing his own show. Wow, let's fire him immediately for that. Let's not look into why he missed.

There are so many others like these. Negative and Stupid. Please stop posting. Go home to mommy and eat your milk and cookies and take a nap.
This one aged well...

At first I really liked Butch because he accepted former players back into the program. He seemed excited and really got into our traditions and sold the program. He recruited well and acted link this was his dream job. Ultimately, he couldn't win and couldn't take criticism and had a thin skin. Pruitt doesn't seem to be genuinely exited to be our coach. He doesn't seem to particularly care about our traditions (running through the T). This definitely not his dream job. Everyone knows that Bama would be his dream job. If he can win, I guess it won't matter to me, if he turns out to be a mediocre coach, then I think his shtick will get old with the fan base pretty quickly. Saban and Belichick are not really a likable guys, but because they win people just look past it.

My comment still holds true.

Schianno wouldn’t have lost to Georgia State.
