We fans have hung in there for the past 15 years with really nothing showing things WILL EVER improve. We have bought tickets and concessions, watched on TV, bought merchandise, but we are as irrelevant today as we were when Dooley was coaching. Things are not going to get better. They really aren't. If fans will be honest with themselves, they know this. What can the AD do to change our minds?

We haven't played big games since early 2000's. But a true Vol can't quit on their team... look at Clemson, they sucked for 30 yrs. Bama was very average in mid 90s to mid 2000s. I just think it will take hiring a halfway competent coach. Gotta get some one with SEC success on their resume.

Bud. I remember the last Fulmer teams, as well the Dewlee teams. they were horrible. Quite honestly we were outgunned when Kiffin was here. Butch has brought us back.

He deserves a chance to fix it. This year.

Unless JG or McBride transforms into a Heisman candidate prior to SCjr game, Butch is done. 7-5 won't cut it.

I have resorted to a believe it when I see it mindset. I've convinced myself that the AD will somehow screw the pooch and we end up with another up and comer instead of going out and hiring a proven winner. That's what the last decade plus of getting your hopes up only to get crushed will get you. I will always root for the Vols to win, no doubt, but I have no confidence in the AD to make the right hire. I'll be honest and say that I am no longer as emotionally invested as I use to be. If we win a game great, if we lose a game it's expected. That's where I am at.

5 years is enough to see if he's going to be a winner. He may would be given a chance to fix it if he didn't blow it like a freshman going to prom against Carolina and the Vandy-Candy boys last year.

The only thing we can hope for is that Butch Jones is our Mike Shula and we luck into hiring our Nick Saban. Highly unlikely and I don't expect it to happen at all.

Where have you been these last few hours...rumors have it that big news is headed our way soon. Butch is not gonna be head coach past this season. AD currie has apparently got the boosters on board to go big this time

The best moment in the last 15 years was Butch on the ground thanking the Lord after beating Georgia last yr. We'd just come off beating Florida week before..and then that massive win at Georgia. Things looked great. Future bright. UT was BACK. Save for the bowl win over Nebraska....it's gone downhill ever since. Big time downhill. Things can change so fast. Can they change back to the better just as quick? A win over Bama would do it. Unfortunately there is literally no chance in hell that happens. In fact if we stay within 30 it would be an incredible shock. There's more chance of a meteor striking and taking out the entire southeast than beating Bama this year. It doesn't make me happy to say that...but it is what it is. But...it is the ONE THING that would turn things around.

I sometimes lay in bed thinking, what if UT beats Texas A&M in OT. In my mind, we still lose to Bama, but the USCjr and Vandy debacles never happen and we go into the SEC CG 11-1 and u never know. Of course, I'm an eternal optimist

No we arent as irrelevant as with Dooley. Thats just a dumb statement. Dooley never had us ranked in the top 15. Nor did Dools win a bowl game, let alone 3. I get most of us are upset with Nutch and want him gone, but if ypu are being truly honest, then you cannot say we are just like the Dooley years. Because its just demonstrably false.

Sadly Butch will still be here with a 7-5 record, maybe even 6-6. I think 5-7 or worse is the only scenario that gets him canned

The problem goes higher up than the AD.
