His first class wasn't his players. He held the class together. two true freshman are starting this year because of it. One didn't have any spring practice and only two weeks of Oline practice.

If that doesn't show you how bad of shape were in nothing will. A true freshman with two weeks of oline practice is the best we have after Dooley recruiting.

Isn't it the Butches who told us all how Butch saved the 2013 class because Dooley was losing everyone? Funny how the tune changes and the blame game starts when things don't go well.

OK, I'll be honest and play your game...

You can't compare apples to oranges which is what the OP is trying to do.

laMe kiffScum also failed to recruit enough linemen and so did Donexttonothing and THAT is killing us right now.

buTch has only 1, yes ONE of HIS full recruiting classes on campus and all of them are true freshmen and 23 of those true freshmen are playing and some starting including a G, a T and a TE on our O line.

buTch and his staff ARE recruiting their butts off and even buTch was in Memphis Friday night at a high school game working hard to try to flip a 5* O line Tackle to come to Tennessee.

IMHO buTch is doing a great job rebuilding with the total dumpster fire he was brave enough to take over.

1 of the main reasons alot of the top recruits fear becoming a Vol is because they want stability in the program and to know that their coaches are going to be here during their 4 year tenure.

I believe that buTch gets 3 more solid recruiting classes and we'll have the talent and the depth to play against any team in the country.

buTch and his staff HAVE rebuilt 2 other programs and HAVE been successful and have put guys in the NFL by coaching them up properly.

Even with so many true freshmen playing so much of the time our D has been playing great and is something to be proud of...damn shame we don't have the talent and depth we need on the D yet but it IS coming.

1 point loss to floriDUHHH sucks and 3 point loss to UGa sucks too but we WERE in those games and we DID have a chance to WIN and I see the progress already and those that don't are either dumb, blind or both and really don't know how the recruiting process and rotation has to work in a 4 year rotation to have a really good team CONSISTENTLY and that's what buTch is implementing for us.

NOT to have a good team every 3 years but to have a good team EVERY year.

The recruiting rotation MUST get put in place properly first and then you recruit to replace what you will lose every year.

STOP your crying and whining like babies and appreciate how hard our coaches and players are working to rebuild us back up to a top 10 team every year like we belong!

MAN UP and be supportive and give buTch and our coaches the years they must have to get our recruiting rotation back together and the WINS damn sure will come!

Geeez people, without decent depth on D we just shut down the 3rd ranked team in the nation for most of the 1st half and in case you forgot...D wins championships and buTch is getting our D back together pretty fast with such young players all over the field.

If you missed it...The rebels D is what kept them in the game most of the 1st half until their O got some things figured out and until our turnovers gave them good field position.

Granted it's not happening as fast as we all want but it IS happening and we're NOT out of a bowl game yet either.

Lets get ready to hit alaBubba in the mouth and hopefully we'll roll the turds!

They just might come in OVERconfident and that's just what we want and need.

Butch has only coached a season and a half. It's yet to be known if we make a bowl game this year(I don't think we will at this point).

It was Houston Nutt who had two good years in '08 and '09 and his recruiting was okay - not great...What Freeze is doing right now is very impressive and it's his baby.

I can just about guarantee you if Butch isn't given a reasonable amount of time (no,1.5 years is not reasonable), it will be at lèast that long.before our next bowl.

Those legacy players would have come if jocker Phillips was coaching. Butch has yet to elevate/coach any player to play above there level. Franklin,stoops,freez,mullin all played freshman and have players coached up .But we can't exspect that...its always . Poor butch this poor butch that. Give him 7-8 years bs

Such as who? 2013 wasn't a highly regarded class in the first place (mid 20's in most of the rankings) but Sutton and North are on their way to very good careers. Jason Carr was a washout but other than him most of that class is performing as well as expected...It was a weak class largely because of how poorly Dooley recruited our backyard (Ramsey and Bell among others).

UK is one win away from a bowl and I know their schedule hasn't been as strong as ours but to be 5-2 with a team that hasn't had a winning season since 2010 is remarkable improvement from where they were a year ago.

Compare the talent/depth he started with to ours last year. This offensive line may be the worst in the power 5 conferences. Put Tunsil on this O line and we are 5-2 right now.

Even with a better line the play calling on the offensive side of the ball would still be suspect at best. And if the oline is our biggest weakness why are we running a triple reverse on the ole miss 25 against the fastest D in the league? Sounds like brilliant coaching to me, that's big east thinking.

Look at Marquis Haynes on Ole Miss; A Prep FR starting; ranked as 3 Star #43 DE out of HS in 2013; a year in prep school where he was a 3 Star not ranked in Top Prep players; he abused our true FR all night to the tune of 2 sacks & a FF with several hurries / disruptions

Our FR OL where ranked higher so is it coaching / over rated players / "quicksand" on the field? Just not seeing any improvement & player development is essential.

Mathews says until we can run the ball, we will not beat anyone. Said Worley is a very average QB. Cannot throw consistently or run well enough.
