fans will be rather shocked at the team that takes field this year...a very noticeable difference from past years...competitive as a team and competitive for positions and competitive for starting positions...watch for the huge improvement this year...the naysayers are just wrong..wrong..

No one in the country has better position coaches than Tennessee...it will be vindicated on the field.....coaches will set low expectations so expect to be surprised at our improvement....all imo

Best coaching staff in America, heard that before
Hey bigdaddy...you old enough to remember when Jimmy Johnson went to the Dallas Cowboys and the changes he made.....well expect to see the same type growth in the Vols program with this coaching staff...they know the type players they need...it's their evaluation

You are what your record says you are. In CJP's case, UPROVEN. By history, chances are he won't make it here. But, the beautiful thing about being unproven is, ya just never know for sure one way or the other. Maybe we get lucky like Clemson and hire the real deal. Hope so.

We shall see....

I’m not expecting much this year.
speed and power good buddy...speed and power...I look at a turnaround just like Jimmy Johnson produced at the Dallas Cowboys....I believe the players are going to love playing for this staff and their position coaches and it will show on the field of play

I do not think they are the best but we have some legit position coaches that have been at major programs instead of conference USA all star squad from Cincy.

AGree, just saying seeing that phrase made me cringe a little. Looking forward to seeing what Tyson Helton can do here

I understand what you're saying, but unfortunately, due to the lack of player development and S & C during the CBJ tenure, I believe it will take a couple of years for CJP and staff to recruit and develop the VOLS into the level they were prior to the nightmarish years between 2008-2017. These flatline years were cause in great part by an administration and Athletic directors who bowed to a couple of big-time $$$ supporters instead of looking out for the best interests of the UT football program. Mike Hamilton, Dave Hart, John Currie... all looked at the bottom line as being about bringing in more $$$$$$$.

Now, we have a former coach (Fulmer) as AD, and one who loves UT above all... NOT a BAMA transplant. As a former coach, he knows the problems coaches and players face in every facet of NCAA sports and can help his coaches, players, and administration overcome those hurdles. Also, Fulmer carefully and quietly selected a very well-respected HC in CJP, and has assisted him in putting together a solid staff of assistant coaches. Yes, Fulmer has to be concerned about the $$$, but that is not his all-in-all. He wants UT sports to excel. He has gotten the administration to shell out the $$$ for a great staff to make that happen, but it will take time to do the recruiting, player development, and to development the winning culture needed for the VOLS to be relevant once again.

The potential is there for a much better year in 2018 than we had in 2017, and with a little luck, we may be greatly surprised and gave perhaps 8 or 9 wins and a mid-tier bowl. However, I think it will be more likely a 6 or 7 win season and a lower-tier bowl.... but even that is a start in the right direction from the abyss CBJ drug the team into in five short years.

So this whole thread is based off of emotional thinking and nothing tangible? Ok..

FLVOL do you think the production these coaches were able to achieve at other schools is emotion or give fact..on paper for all to see....now we have great position coaches who are coaching together....that is not emotion

I am right there with you...that is why I mentioned the type turnaround that Jimmy Johnson had when he went to the Dallas Cowboys.....but I do believe we are going to see the signs of that this year...and expect to see players playing with confidence

I agree the product on the field will be tougher, stronger and better. The concern is whether that improvement can be converted to wins. tough schedule with new schemes is a tough row to hoe.
