Seem to recall someone saying we offered Franklin 9mil and got turned down.
I think that was Franklin county's covid relief. some one saw it and thought it was football. Never happened.

Unfortunately many failed to recognize Pitt as a team very capable of beating our current squad. When Vegas favors a team on the road it’s a good indicator that the visiting team is better - not a team that’s merely gonna challenge the home team. Pitt’s offensive and defensive lines were superior to ours and they featured a 5th year starter at QB who was very effective when given time.

The gap between the teams wasn’t so great as to be insurmountable but after our initial strong start we made far to many mistakes. The penalties alone were enough to prevent us from winning but when you add three turnovers into the mix it’s really a wonder that we only lost by a single score.

Of course we all would have liked to have won - just as all the players and coaches would have - but it’s early in the first year of a new coaching staff so I’m gonna focus more on hoping we improve for the next game. If we play relatively error free ball we can win some games this year. Even with the mistakes yesterday, it seemed liked the players were playing with more enthusiasm- it was like it was fun again. So GBO and let’s get ready for next week.

Two things are true:

1) IF a return to "relevance" happens, it will be long and filled with disappointments.
2) Asking Vol fans for patience is no longer an option.

Lack of patience is a product of the multiple failures over the last 13 years. It is not an indication that Vol fans are irrational, unrealistic, disloyal, etc. Everyone (media, coaches, administration included) should realize there is no more patience. Patience was depleted long ago. An impatient fanbase as large and passionate as ours is far greater than having no fanbase at all. Go rebuild the program as best you can without the hand-holding and "we love you" post-loss sentiments.

This is where the UT administration has lost this fanbase. They want to do it on the cheap and hope that they find the needle in the haystack. UT is a frickin’ joke. Not gonna change anytime soon.

I’ve learned my lesson. I was all for giving Dooley, Jones, Pruitt time for their process to return UT to a champion. I hung in there with them because I believed a coach needed some time to recruit and change a losing culture. All the while VolNation was screaming FIRE THEM. I now know how wrong I was.

After losing his first game as head coach, Huepel has shown he’s not the guy. Call in the lawyers, cut losses and start the search for a 100% win guy. No use fighting. Just give up and move on.
The being wrong part hasn't changed.

Tough to win when the players they do have are committing idiotic penalties, missing wide open throws, and the coach is calling plays that get blown up 2 yards in the backfield on 4th and short as well.
You prove my point.
QB isnt good enough to be in a big time college. Thats on a first year coach? See what happen by the end of the season. The oline has sucked for years. Now you want a watered done oline playing better then before? I kind of look at it like they called the plays to win the game but the players didnt execute.
At some point they just got beat on there 1 on 1s far to often.
Bailey is becoming some fans saviour week 2.
I really doubt if he could win games 2 staffs would play him more. He may throw a good ball but may not have other abilities we cant see in practices.
1 thing I will say is teams are running 1 or 2 routes for QBs to read and them you better get on the run cause everyone gets pressure if not quick pressure these days. Athletic QBs are the normal now over strait drop back passers. Behind this line, Bailey may not be the best choice as someone more mobile os needed to not get killed.
Hooker probably gains some confidence from his play. Maybe that will lift him to the forefront and the get better QB play.

I mean do you think we would have more or less interest than when we had to settle for Heupel and got turned down by almost every coach in the country?

Anyone that read my post and saw anything other than satire needs to get off the boos and pipe.

Y’all are scaring me. Fire a good man after one loss? Really?

PS:
You forgot blue font

LOL Yep I guess this crowd needs the blue font to know when something is stated as sarcasm. It was pretty obvious. Makes me wonder ‘bout some of my brothers and sisters here.

Sending an undisciplined team onto the field that gets 130+ yards in penalties is 100 percent on the coaching staff.

Making a play call that almost everyone in the stadium and watching the game diagnosed with the game on the line is 100 percent on the coaches as well.

No one forced Heupel into accepting Milton as a transfer. He is shaping up quickly into being fools gold with that big arm and athletic ability. Remains to be seen what Heupel does but the QB play has got to be better than the first two games.

Hooker made the mistake with the interception but brought a lot more decisiveness to the table. Pretty clear to me the team played better with him in the game.

Not sure where you're going with all the Bailey talk. I'm not one of those people clamoring for him. I dont care who they play as long as they give the team the best shot to win.

My take was that the QB situation would be fluid through pretty much first quarter of the season at least. Never bought into the Milton hype based on what I saw at Michigan however.

Youre just making a bunch of strawman arguments that have almost nothing to do with what I posted.

So you are saying the fact that we did not block or execute the play had nothing to do with it getting blown up? What great play did you have that would work when we miss the blocks? SMH

I am still on the fence about the Heupel hire. Time will tell. However, I was shocked the the number of penalties, on both sides of the ball, this weekend. Last stat I saw during the game was 135yds of penalties. No repercussions for personal fouls from the coaching staff. That is extremely worrisome for me. I hope he is the guy and this was just a bad outing. We shall see as the season progresses.

QB sneak under center. Highest percentage thing they could have attempted on 4th and inches.

And maybe coaching and lack of communication had something to do with them missing the blocks in the first place.

Of course that doesn't fit the Coach ____ is above reproach model that super fans such as yourself follows. 4 coaches in and its the same tired arguments.

We were at home. AT HOME

And Pitt was favored by the odds makers - you know, the folks who don’t let team loyalty cloud their vision. Pitt would have been favored by 7 on a neutral field and by 10 if it were their home game. How many decades or piss poor teams must Tennessee field before even the most clueless fans get a clue? Everyone who wasn’t a blind Tennessee fan knew Pitt was the better team. Will you be disappointed when we lose a couple more home games against teams that are better than us? Among the power 5 teams, where do you rank the Vols? Bottom quartile? Bottom decile?

Everyone needs to step away from the ledge. The program is in flux right now. It can’t be fixed overnight

But, but, but…all the Nintendo caliber coaches are sure you just hit the reset button and compete for championships immediately!

I hate we got beat but it’s seriously time some in our fanbase realizes the reality of our situation at the moment. This is gonna take time. More than we want to wait including me but it’s just the situation we are in
