I’m so up on Lagway it’s sickening. A Florida buddy at work and I often talk about how high his ceiling is. If I could have any current guy at qb I would prob take him. (I’ve put the arch dream behind me )

You may be right, but in the time we saw Moore, he wasn’t exactly impressive. Decent, steadied the ship, but I don’t think he’s the guy that takes the team on his shoulders and leads them to the promised land.

Of course, same could be said about unproven freshmen. But a real, true QB competition would be the best case scenario and could pay dividends come time to kick off the season.

I love this take, I feel like the past few years guys have just gotten the expected nod. Some real good pressure might just build a diamond.

Lagway & Sellars are way better young SEC QBs than Nico its not even close is the sad part.

I think as long as Heupel is the head coach the offense will be pretty good.

I have a feeling this will not be that big of a deal at the end of all this.

Feel like Merk will surprise some people honestly. The team succeeded last year bc of Sampson and the defense.

At this point give me a talented, hungry but green QB over the prima donna 5* who’s not as good as his people (dad mostly) think he is.

Not sure this is something Nico wanted or was all that involved in, but does seem like his dad was driving this bus. Might be great $$$ for Nico (and his family) in the short term, but could hurt him in the long run. Time will tell.

Merk has a much better understanding of the offense than a portal QB would unless they get Gaston Moore to come back. I don't see a portal guy coming in and taking the job by storm. Tough call for Hype.

I would rather Heupel pay Moore to come back and be a mentor and qb room leader, but ride with the young guys. Just think bringing in a portal qb to start at a minimum, could negatively affect recruiting. Even worse cause Merk to jump in the portal himself knowing FB will be here next year.

Good take. Strengthen what we have and let the cards play out.
