JG has been a “liability” for us, according to to many. But the truth is, he’d be solid for almost any other team in the Sec. Under Kiffin, he’d probably be a top-3 SEC Qb. Just look at what Kiffin has done with the young Corral.

The problem has never been JG. The problem has been a lack of quality QB coaching, such as what Ole Miss and Florida currently have.

I don’t know, he just hasn’t been able to make quick decisions. Last Saturday wasn’t really his fault because no QB could have done much in that 3rd quarter. But JG has chronically been late on throws And sacked because he held the ball too long. I don’t know how much coaching can help him. Like many, I was hoping Bailey as an early enrollee could win the job but COVID really screwed that up.

He does ok when given time...

JG doesn't have the internal toolkit to be an SEC QB, period. He's an FCS talent at best. A good young man who is a prime example of the Peter Principle in action. He has been promoted to his level of incompetence. The sooner UT football moves off from his tenure the better off the program will be IMO.

I don’t undervalue coaching (or leadership in general) but just doubt he can be coached to process information faster...it’s like Heath Shuler - no amount of coaching could have made him an NFL QB. JG was a great HS QB, a four star recruit who has had some moments but against complex defenses he’s just too slow processing...

A more competent staff would have cut bait with JG two years ago as soon as soon as another QB with a higher ceiling was on campus, and started focusing their primary efforts on getting that QB ready for SEC play.

As it stands now, all of that effort was poured into JG to no avail, and we apparently don't even have a functional backup as a result.

He made two exceptional throws in tight coverage vs UGA that resulted in 12 points. He might not be a draft pick next year, but he has a good arm and is capable of making plays. UT ran into a buzz saw Saturday. They will win more than they lose this year. I suspect next year they will have similar success with whoever the new QB is

Doubt it, but given what Kiffin did w Crompton it’s interesting to think what he would do w JG

Absolutely.
JG just ran into the wrong situation here.
Doesn't matter if he has four 5 star lineman blocking for him. Or one of the best Offensive Coordinators in college coaching him. He needs 3 seconds to process the progression of the play, and the line won't give him that all the time.

Not his fault.

It seems like the line has been bad since he's been here. Just has the worst luck....

Glad I googled the Peter Principle before responding. And here I was thinking it meant if someone can find a way to be a dk, they will be a dk in that way. I like my version better.

We complained all offseason about covid19 now we are going to complain all season about the coaches and qb... I'm ready for next year

On another note I just looked at the stats from ole miss offensively. There is no way they have better players than we do. Something is really wrong period. We struggle to score against everyone, haven't had receivers put up big numbers. This is straight BS. With the talent we have we are under achieving.

Someone needs to school CJP on this Peter Principle.
He,s wasted 21/2 years on a QB that doesn’t have what it takes , that was recruited here by the moron that he replaced and always uses the excuse that the QB’s he recruited are never ready and always uses the excuse that they haven’t had enough snaps in practice
