Les Miles

I have said this already. Les Miles is (1) 63 years old and (2) has mediocre results as a rebuilder at Oklahoma State (3) had the fertile recruiting base of Louisiana and Texas to recruit top players (4) started out coaching LSU with Nick Saban's players who had just come off a NC (5) is a bad game manager like Butch (6) played down to the competition he faced at while at the Tigers (7) was going to be fired in 2015 but was kept due to an emotional win over Texas A&M (8) he was fired 4 games into 2016 (9) has had ZERO offers from other schools that we know of since being fired.

If you're down to this level hire Kiffin and see if Tee will come over as O/C.

My thoughts exactly. When Les finally hangs it up the program should be fairly stable and will give Tee a great platform to launch from.

We know les can get talent and hes a good dude so he will not make UT look bad, He could beat UK,Vandy, south Carolina, and Missouri every year with at least 6 wins a year. worst case scenario he at UT 4-5 years without making the program worst.

Hire Les as HC and get Tee as OC/HC in waiting. Would that work?

it would be the best case scenario, all things considered.

i don't know you could get all parties to agree on doing it though.

but money shouldn't/wouldn't be the issue.

les maybe views this as a job he could have for 10 years. Tee isn't going to be an OC/HCIW that long.

if les views this as a 3-4 year stint, then maybe you have a shot at it.

likelihood of it happening.....i'll let you know when i win the lottery.

id go with Les as HC, Tee as OC and go for steele as DC, you have covered all bases and got a plan the fanbase could accept

A Les Miles hire makes too much sense for John Currie to be able to grasp it. You cant explain sanity to an insane person.

Hire Miles
Hire Tee as OC
With the proviso that in 3-5 years Tee will be HC.
Both are very good recruiters and would rebuild the program

At this point, there's no better option than Miles. I can't see him deferring to Currie - which is a good thing. His experience could reestablish some sense of rapport with the rest of the coaching world - God knows we need that after this debacle. And, ya know, how often can you say the Mad Hatter brings hope of a return to sanity.

Maybe Miles could pull in a couple of favors and have a very hungry LSU mascot sent up for a couple of days so Currie and Davenport can share a cage with him and reminisce about how little they actually knew about much of anything.

EXACTLY. I think his age is why UT is not looking at him.

That would be a pretty stupid way to think - none of the last coaches have gone nearly as long as Miles could. I'd take a Miles type experience over what we've had lately and most of the coaches in contention at this point. Miles could be eased into the AD job; most other coaches are just going to cost a bundle to get rid of.

I would be surprised if either are interested in the HC job at the moment.

Why would Tee consider the OC job now when 1) He turned it down before 2) He has a better OC job currently?

I am not saying I would reject either.

64 years old.... even if he's successful, he's gone in 5-6 years

all of the old rationale is out the window now.

i'd bring les in tomorrow if it were up to me. last Wednesday....i'd of been a hard no to the hatter.

this wednesday....he makes the a whole lot of sense.

At this point Miles is probably the best solution and the path of least resistance as far as the fan base goes. I have come to the point where I could accept Kiffin, with the right contract. Until there are changes at the top, both internally and externally, this embarrassing circus will continue and we will be lucky to have either Miles or Kiffin.

Which is beyond dumb. They reached out to Cuttcliffe.

Somebody said they talked to Cutcliffe; we don't know that for a fact either. The click bait mafia is playing everybody that checks their fake news. They've got their click meters in warp drive.
