Les Miles out after 2015?

$15 mill if you fire him, then you gotta find someone at least as good?? Good luck LSU, your gonna need it! :whistling:

At this point, I don't think its has anything to do with the fans. LSU either has the top salary coaching staff or close to it.... 5-7 in the SEC West the last 2 years is not going to cut it long-term. The regression throughout this year hasn't helped, LSU seems like they are younger and younger every year, but that's immaterial.

At some point, if you demand high salary, people will eventually hold you accountable. To me this is all on its own path now.

I think if the team would not have regressed throughout this year there wouldn't be this talk.

you make good points.

good coaches will always have down seasons thou.

tennessee could have been 11-0 if they played a complete game thru the 4th quarter in their loses.

LSU is no different.

i cant get my head around it, but when u have administration/boosters coming out and saying that they gone pay this or that to get him out of there, how can they mend that fence, IMO it has gone to far already, some folks down there want him out and they are determined to get him out, they think they can get Jimbo Fisher i reckon, but what if not......those kids seem to run through walls for the guy and his recruiting is second to no one.....there have been struggles on the offense for sure, but the guy has like 13 first round picks in 11 years, not to mention like 40-50 others in later rounds.....but i guess all things must come to an end, just dont know how u dont give him one more year to fix this....ranked 2 in the country 2.5 weeks ago lol

Lsu fired Charlie MacClemdon after 17 good years bc he couldn't beat Bear Bryant. Nobody else was beating the Bear. Then Lsu became irrelevant nationally for 25 years, going through more HCs than jockstraps.

Les needs a top QB. That's it.

What if they gambled and spent a sh** ton on Fuente?

At the rate his season is going, he could have an identical record at Memphis to what Miles is doing at LSU. Is it really worth $15 Million to make that change.

Interesting to note: The big hangup on Chavis' contract last year was, the LSU administration would not guarantee Chief's contract IF Miles was not the coach before the offered 3 years was up. Why was that an issue last year?

Little known fact:

The movie 'The Waterboy' is based on a true story.

This week, The Hatter is going to fake the fake

You need a little luck as well, sometimes you make your own luck. Les has had a lot to deal with... lots of early draftees really hurts, the DL (3 of them) dismissals this last summer didn't help the DL for sure.

I agree with you, the problem is this has been an ongoing issue/s. Even, if there were no issues, exactly how long should LSU go without making plans for the future?

I don't think the players are horrible, actually the exact opposite... the problem is they are not playing as a team... some of that falls on the coaches. The regression this year has been pretty bad.... if you are one of the highest paid coaching staffs, eventually someone has to be the issue. Les has been a good coach, his strangeness really fits sometimes BR, but at the end of the day... you have to show improvement.

This thing has its own legs now though. What is going on with Les is not exactly right either but you know the media needs a story.

LSU can be a real good team next year.... at this point with all this going on... not sure there is much of a choice if someone else is going to pay the bill.

And why this is relevant. A lot of the folks whining about this season are the same crew that ran Fulmer off. Expectations are ridiculous. Insane even.

Our program is in a better place. Finally. But those of you whining, I am sure were the first to call for Fulmer to leave also.

Just look in the mirror and ask yourselves? How well did that work?

:)

Fulmer had to go, should have been done in 2005. The way it was done is what should be criticized.

It would be hilarious if LSU dumped Miles, paid the 15 mil, Hired Fuente at an absurd amount, and then went 7-5 next year with blowout losses to Bama,Uf,Ole Miss, Miss ST, and Arky.

For sure could happen, not sure LSU has a choice at this point if someone else is paying the bill.

My guess is either Jimbo or Herman, Jimbo's situation is more difficult though.

The difference is Les has never won less than 8 games. Fulmer had 2 losing seasons in 4 years.

The year we fired him he had a top 5 recruiting class going i would have liked to seen him given 1 more year and if we had a 7 and 5 record let him walk away not run him off look what he done for us in the 15 years he was here a NC a top 10 ranking most of the time, i know the last 2 years wasn't that good but he is A TRUE ORANGE VFL and he deserved better than what he got., in my 46 years as a fan he is by far the best coach we had and the man is in the COLLEGE FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME, but he still is no good.:eek:hmy:

I agree, the way it was done was shabby but it had to be done and no he didn't deserve 1 more year.

I didn't say he wasn't any good. He was tailing off at the end and that's a fact. If you gleaned that from my post then I can't help you. But comparing Miles firing to his is a deservice to Miles. Miles has not come close to "falling off" as much as Fulmer did. Miles has also accomplished what he has in a time when the SEC is the best it's ever been. He played for 2 titles in a time period when 3 other SEC teams were playing for titles around him. Fulmer was dominating in a predominantly 2 team league for much of his career.
