After the fumble on the Georgia 34 with eight and a half minutes left in the game, I thought the winds had shifted and this would be the year. And then like a bad country song…
  • Only 34 yards to go. Score a touchdown and it’s game over. Started with a false-start, first and 15. Playing the statistics, needing that run game that has carried Tennessee so much under Heupel. Run the clock, get out with the win. They only managed nine yards and settled for three points. Still, an improbable eight point lead and less than seven minutes remaining.
  • Georgia gets a questionable PI call. (to be fair, Tennessee got a freebie earlier, too)
  • Third and seven, (ball game), Tennessee gives up a ten yard pass.
  • Fourth and six (ball game), Tennessee gives up a 28 yard touchdown pass
  • Two-point conversion (ball game), Tennessee’s defense blows the coverage and gives up and easy two-point conversion
  • Tennessee drives the field, sets up for a nice field goal (ball friggin’ game)…false start. Max Gilbert is 91% from 37 yards…55% from 43. He pushed it far right. Wasn't even close.

I count five missed opportunities of execution to put this game away at the end. Any one would have ended the streak for the dork-dogs. Alas, the football gods saw fit to end the streak another day.

Man ya gotta tip your cap on the 4th and 6 TD throw. It was not bad coverage just an absolute perfect throw. As for the ill fated false start before the kick...Heupel Panicked by kicking without running another play. I would have to think a dive to the center to set the ball for a straight kick and we win. Much easier kick.

It is a lot like the Alabama\Milroe throw against Auburn last year for them to survive.

Yep… The play call, the route and the route and throw were absolutely perfect.
