I have thought that too but these days guys coach into their 70's. Saban is 65 and looks like he could coach another 10+ years if he wants. I obviously hope that doesn't happen he needs to retire after this year. But Coach's are different animals..Coaching is all they know and many aren't happy unless it's what they are doing. Les said he wanted to continue coaching so I could see him doing it another 6-10 years, especially if he is still being successful at it. Most guys want to go out on their own terms and Miles definitely didn't. I'm sure he would love to show he can still win at a high level and at a school like TN. Not saying it would ever happen but we definitely could do a lot worse. And IMO would be a huge upgrade over Butch simply because he has done it in the SEC and has won a NC and SEC Titles at an elite school like LSU. Like I posted in another thread if I'm an AD I want to know his plan on the offensive side of the ball. That was what ultimately cost him his job and is he willing to made the switch to an offense that is more modern and that would bring in the QB's, which was his one true downfall at LSU.. Everything else could stay the same because it worked but could he bring in an OC and an offensive staff that could bring in a passing offense to complement great Oline and RB play. Hell he had elite,NFL receivers every year to go along with the stable of RB's and good OLine play his team's always seemed to have.He has always had good defense's and recruiters so I'm not the least bit concerned about that side of the ball. But if he tells me yes I'm making a change on his offensive philosophy and converting to a modern day offense that upper level QB's will come play on then hell yes he is my only candidate and won't even think about plan B unless he turns down the job offer..JMO though but if I'm AD that is my first call and interview. He is a players coach and they love him so I don't think there would be many or if so very few transfers. We already have the QB's and WR's on campus, some real solid TE's,have a very good RB in JK, have an UA player selection and one of the top RB's in the country already committed plus CFA could be a very solid RB for us. Not to mention a very underrated RB from Louisiana that is a baller.. Obviously we need player and coaching upgrades on the Oline but next year will have a SR dominated Oline so whoever the OC and offensive coach's are will have plenty of talent and shiny toys to coach up. We have some DL and LB talent returning but badly need to build up depth with guys just as good or better and not just roster fillers. Definitely need to upgrade, improve on and build depth at LB and in the secondary.I don't know if the bad secondary play is lack of talent and some players just being overrated or if they are a talented group but the coaching is horrible. Considering how many steps backwards the secondary has taken the last few years and that is with an all American Cam Sutton and last year Brian Randolph played poorly most games but gets on an NFL team and was killing it till he tore his ACL I'm going with coaching. Not a fan of Martinez and don't think he is a good DB Coach at all. After Terry Fair left our secondary has done nothing but gone backwards and they they are either out of position, take horrible angles to the ball, just don't make the plays and produce very few Int's. There were rumors last year about how back the DB's footwork and technique are leads me to believe it's mostly Martinez. We have some highly recruited and highly ranked secondary players so I will reserve judgement until next season hopefully under a new DB Coach which I would almost bet anything is one of the staff changes.
