Legit topic, but maybe a little premature

Thats a lateral move anyways. Hes built a good program at TCU. Dont see him leaving, unless it for a Storied Program.
Not saying TN isnt, but you get what Im saying.

For Patterson, K-State is a destination job; I just do not see him voluntarily leaving the program he has built at TCU.

Anyone who thinks a head coaching change after next season would be good for the program, under any circumstance (barring off-field issues), does not know what they're talking about. A shake-up in the staff maybe, but not the head coach.

If Patterson did not leave TCU for K-State, then he is not leaving TCU for any other job (especially now that TCU is joining the BigXII).

i'll say the same thing i said after kiffy quit ...

take a plane to ft worth and don't leave until you have patterson's name on a contract. spend whatever it takes.

the alternative is much more expensive in the long run.

I would say Chris Peterson from Boise State but I dont think he would leave he has it made up there. Whos to say Pete Carrol wouldnt come back to college football, I would at least open the check book and try. Kirby Smart would be to much of a risk, this hire has to be a home run. It has to be a proven coach who has a track record of success not just an over night success story. I sure hope Mr. Hart can reach down deep in the ut pockets and we stay away from discount coaches in the future

I agree Smart would be a risk, but i think Pete carroll would be more of a risk than Kirby smart, I mean cmon he killed usc with probation. I mean they are doing fine with recruits and their record but would you really wanna risk the program with pete carroll.

Edit: I still support Dooley, lol. But i do agree with Op currently we do need to make some changes with this coaching staff, not Dooley or Wilcox however.

So who will? no one? we just won't ever have a coach in the future? a top ten all time program can't get a coach?

Nope. This is the perfect storm. Toughest conference, poor instate recruiting, extremely high expectations, and extreme instability.

I don't know who the right guy is, but what I do know is that the next guy needs to be a proven winner. We have the resources and tradition to expect as much. And fortunately for us, Dooley is recruiting well so there should be less objections the next go around.

Paterno.

...too soon?

You know, I've disagreed with your posts over on the Penn State thread, but I thought that you were trying to argue in some sort of reasoned manner from a viewpoint that was different from mine.

But this post is just plain trollish. I have to conclude that you simply post in order to stir up trouble. And I now doubt the background that you claim to have.

Quoted for truth.

Mental illness has ravaged this fanbase.

Look, I respect your opinion, but you thought Pearl should be fired for lying. Why do you want Leavitt, a guy who lied to his bosses?

An overreaction by USF's administration doesn't mean Leavitt should be barred from college athletics

Mike London. Virginia coach. He's 7-3 this year with a program that has absolutely sucked for 20 years.

Don't leave out what he did at Richmond either.

You might be shocked to know Tennessee is a top ten program. Those are pathetic excuses. To hear the majority of our fanbase tell it, Tennessee has never won a game unless Fulmer or Neyland was on the sidelines. This is false.

Mike Gundy or Bret Bielema, I think both are realistic choices if offered enough money.

Neither are realistic choices. T Boone can write a check to match what any school offers and Gundy is overrated anyways. Bielema isn't going anywhere but Iowa from where he's at.

Petrino
Gundy
Franklin
Patterson
Sumlin
Dabo swiney

Gundy can't be had and Tennessee doesn't want him

Seriously?

Patterson has no reason to leave TCU now that they're joining the Big 12

Sumlin would be a good hire imo

Dabo Swinney sucks

Gundy would never leave OSU for another div 1 school.
He played there.

Patterson was interested when Hamilton approached him 2 years ago.

Franklin?

Leach is a weirdo

Who cares. He's a weirdo that wins. The guy flat out knows football and can coach. Something I'm starting to worry about with this staff. I really do hope Dooley and Company can turn it around, but I'm really starting to worry. I'm tired of the Vols showing up on ESPN as a highlight reel for the opposing team. I'm actually worried about Vandy.
