Tonight, in Nashville, UT tries to keep alive what would be the greatest four game run in program history. The Vols have a chance to beat their four biggest rivals in succession, with three of the games on the road, and in the process secure their first outright SEC title in 41 years and maintain possession of the top spot nationally.

I'm diggin' the thread title, hat. Any chance of you coming up to "Trashville" for the big game?

i hope that we can maintain our intensity through these games. being #1 is awesome, but it makes me nervous for some reason.

I find it ironic that most people have been fully confident TN would win in ALL SEC games and now that we earn the #1 ranking everyone starts getting scared. I think we have no problem getting up for this one. And we are just too good for Vandy.

I really never thought the previous 2 years we had the horses to truly finish the season in style. I finally feel like we can actually do just that. This team is poised to make a big-time run and it's going to be fun to watch

I know what you mean. I just try and not think about it. I just think of more of what the vols have done this season on the court when looking forward to a game, and that calms the nerves.

I'm really not being negative, although someone (everyone?) will take issue, I still see us losing one of these last SEC games. To say Vandy will be up is the understatement of the day. The same will be only slightly less true of KY & FL, depending on whether we are still #1. As much as I want us to win out, reality in my mind says not going to happen.

Reality is overrated. After Tennessee beat Memphis, I am just standing back and enjoying the ride. I try not to bring logical expectations into it. If we beat Vanderbilt, I advocate converting to my newfound zen philosophy.

listening to 104.5 The Zone in Nashville and they had Chris Dorsch(sp?) from Blue Ribbon CollegeBasketball Yearbook who was at UTs practice yesterday...one observation he had was CBP had the team running side to side defensive drills for an unusually long period of time...the team kept looking for CBP to blow the whistle...CBP said" Better to feel the burn today than tomorrow night at Memorial Gym"...I think he got their attention...the team is focused

Chris Dortch is bigtime. They produce by far the best college basketball magazine in America.

Wondered what you thought of him. He chimes in about twice a week on the local sports radio show. I always thought he was pretty good.

Wish I could be that way sometimes, but I cannot ignore what my gut tells me. Perhaps getting fears out in the open allows easier acceptance of them thereby making them less intimidating.

They have him on every so often...Chris was on for an entire hour...another observation he had was that CBP style of basketball has evolved from the original style that Dr. Tom ran...CBP has added to it and made it his own...he said that CBP is underrated as a tactician as well

i'm not nervous about anything. i'm enjoying this year. it's fun. if we lose to vandy, we lose to vandy. if we lose to vandy, we will beat uk and uf. winning the sec outright will happen this season. i'll admit, come ncaa tournament time, i will get nervous.

This is a really dangerous game, coming off one of the biggest wins in the program's history into a hostile environ against a pretty good team that hates us. A win under those circumstances may say as much about this team as the Memphis game.
